Wondering if anyone might have an idea what it could be before I bring it in. I've got a clunking sound in my right front wheel somewhere, it is consistant with the speed of the car (more rapid when I go faster), it will go away when I brake, and then come back when I let off. It only happens when I first drive the car after its been setting for at least a couple hours, it also seems to go away when I make turns and put more weight on it, if I drive strait it keeps clunking. After about 10 minutes of driving it will go away until the next time I leave my car sitting for the night. It's happened when I had my stock rotors, and now my new ones, I've changed rims as well, still does it. It seems to be staying around much longer now, which is why I'm going to take it in soon, it used to just be a little clunk and then go away. Any ideas?
Did you check to make sure the backing plate is not hitting. Also what kind of pads and rotors are you running.
my car mad a noise like that when i had a striped nut on my ball joint. the cotter pin holds it in place and makes it look like nothings wrong with it. i would check that.

Did you replace the brakes and then it started making noise? What did you change before this noise started?
swing by the shop I can take a look for ya.... I htink we couldnt work it out before (not sure if we looked) but if it is as bad and as consistant as you are saying we may be able to figure itout pretty easy... also I agree with shane.. possibly your axle (cv joint)... I would forget the backing plate.. it wouldnt be a clunking noise but a scraping noise and very consistant.. wouldnt go away until you bent it back.... possibly a wheel bearing too as that would give you a rotational / speed varied noise, as would the cv joint....
