    OK dont ask why but I ordered the ACT HD clutch package about a year ago and put it in my car. I hate the unsprung hub of the clutch disc. The main reason if you dont carefully rev match every shift it sounds like theres a midget in my trunk with a hammer. Some have mentioned this can be fixed with some bushing. I may give this a try first if anyone cant point me to what bushing set this would be. But I think that might just mask the problem, that being incredible drive line shock and fear that my transmission and or rear dif is going to explode any day now.

    So heres my plane and please give any input.

    Heres what I bought. SB4-HDR6
    Components- SB-013, 6240018, RB601, PB1004, AT87

    What I would like to turn it into SB4-HDG6
    Components- SB-013, 6240618, RB601, PB1004, AT87

    Or SB4-HDSS
    Components- SB-013, 3000503, RB601, PB1004, AT87

    So it would appear that I could just purchase the Clutch disc assembly separate to replace the old one. But heres the question sence i have had it in my car for about a year approx 10K miles. Can I replace the Clutch disc and resurface the fly and get away with not purchasing a pressure plate (thats like the most expensive part)?

    Also looking through the parts list I'm trying to figure out with the part# RB601 is that shows up in all the clutch kits.

    SB-013 = Pressure plate
    6240618 = Clutch Disc
    PB1004 = Pilot Bearing
    AT87 = Aliment Tool

    So what the hell is the RB601? also when I did a quick list price build one using the kit and one using single items (pressure plate, Clutch disc, Bearing Alignment tool) I notice the kit was almost $100 more

    RB I bet is Release Bearing. :)

    And yes, pressure plate should be fine after only a year.

    OK so the release bearing is different from the Pilot bearing.. and still $100 bucks for one?? i mean the pilot bearing is like 5 bucks. I did not see where you could purchase a release bearing separate from the one vendor site i was looking at.

    Where around here would you recommend to resurface the fly? and what would the cost be? About 300 bucks for a clutch install i estimate would this include resurfacing?

    I think i might just start with some bushing up grades. http://www.turninconcepts.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_9_11_260_264_1195&products_id=24

    The more i read about it it seems like the sprung hub or the unsprung hub isnt really going to solve my problem, I'm not sure how much of that drive line shock is going to be absorbed with a sprung clutch disc.

    It would be nice to be able to slip the clutch a bit more right now the only way to really launch is to just dump the clutch. I think a full face disc might help a bit but im thinking more and more now that its just that HD pressure plate is what is limiting control to slip the clutch

    I drive puck clutches just letting it slip at LOW rpms up to 1500 to get it to move then I left it catch. Less slippage means less wear and less shudder. Some people slip it high, but that's them. I don't mind driving a unsprung disc.... having a sprung disc puts ease at mind.

    The ACT unit I ordered for my 6spd is the Heavy Duty PP with sprung 6puck. You can just order a sprung unit and put that in.

    That's still kind of my main plane, I just wasnt sure if anything had to be done with the pressure plate. But it looks like I should be ok.

    it'll wear in. It's a 6puck.

    When I got my 6spd, the PP and FW was a little beat up. I just put in a 6puck and let it wear in. I love it! I was tempted to just run a 6puck with the OEM 6spd PP to see how much ft lbs it takes before letting loose. Peak torque only comes around peak boost. lolz
    But I figured... eh... I don't want to drop that 6spd again... too heavy!!! That's why I just grabbed an ACT kit.

    Good Luck!
