    02 WRX;
    Installed stage 1 clutchmaster clutch & lighter flywheel about early Jan. today 1st & 2nd gear are slowly engaging. there's a vibrating sound in 1st and then a load poping sound in 2nd when i rev up high for the car to go. it feels like when your clutch is out. almost like the clutch is trying to grab. cause i think i could hear the flywheel spinning with slow movement in the car. took it to whitebr subaru today for diagnostic. waiting for answers tommorrow. thought i get some 2nd opinion here. never trusted the dealership. this happened 1wk after they did my recall, and a $500 inner cv boot on both frnt. i know that wouldn't have to do with the clutch, maybe a bad clutch. but just can't get over the $500. thinking if it's the clucth, i'm looking at $1000!! the guy who installed was a good mechanic but new to suby. my mistake. i'm hoping to pay someone here $4-500 if it's the clutch.

    I'm appalled that the boots cost $500. I would find someone else to do the work. Get a MNSOC membership, then take it to Morries Mtka for a second opinion.

    The clutches I recommend for Subarus are really just ACT/Exedy. More power means something other than that or going twin/triple plate.
    I should go visit your car. So sad

    sorry fellows, i've been busy intalling p/s pulley, a/c belt tensioner, and other long winter put off stuffs.
    I had no choice, broke down on thurs, needed car for work. it was the right side joint, they said i must be doing to much torque with the stage 1, and torn off the teeths. cost another $500 for a reman joint installed! friend told me to get gator joints like he has with his k20 honda hatch, but at $600ea!?? is there something beter? could earlier sti joints fit? since corect me if i'm wrong suby run 50/50 on awd, i would have to get all 4 changed out?

    fuji i'll pm you one day and have you check out my car and some of my rookie work.
    i wanted to call mintnka, but i live in oakdale, so whitebear was closer. if i had the parts i would have done it myself or pay one of you to do it. i even ask the guy if it was their mistake, that someone didn't put it in correctly, since they had to take the joints off to replace the inner cv boots, and of course e denieds it, another mistake i should've brought to another auto shop to get anther opinion. it was driving just fine till 4days after they replaced the boots.

    bro, I was trying to reference what pheng told me about them gators. I looked them up and they talked a lot about fwd drag cars. You might have to run the GDB jdm sti drive axles. Like what fuji said about Exedy clutch, a lot of subaru's run them.

    should've done more research, but that's what happen when you only have one car to depend on, and clutchmaster had a better deal on stage1 with flywheel combo, plus some wrxclub members refered me to clutchmaster, so i went with it. it'll atleast last longer than stock with my driving habits! need those sti drive axles though, maybe i'll drive gay for now till i get a deal for those joints and take the sti springs at the same time. i'll call around to see if the junkyard down in rosemount or blaine has any suby in. we could go out and just tear up all the parts, you know i need both serpentine belt tensioner. haha
