Hey all, I am not sure if any of you are interested but this weekend their will be a National competition at the MOA for fighting robots. I will competing in it and it should be a good time. If anybody wants to come it is free to come and watch. Let me know if you have any questions.
Yes in the rotunda, All of Friday and Sat morning is inspection and the rest of the day Sat and all day Sunday will be fighting. We have at least 36 bots showing up from around the U.S.
Yeah sniper1rfa was on our team. This one is Billet, it is pretty much a brick on wheels. This one is Rugburn, the blade up front weighs about five pounds and spins around 6,000 rpm. We just won the over all year points for the region with this one this year. And yes I am a robot, lol. No I drive Rugburn. Battlebots is still around and fight but nobody would give them air time because of a lawsuit they won against Bud. I think somebody has pick them up and is gonna start airing them soon.
One of my best friends worked for a guy that won the heavy weight division in BattleBots several years ago. The bot was named Son of Whyachi
Yeah Son of whyachi was a pretty good bot. I have seen it in real life and the weapon is amazing, really beefy.
beefy is right. the weapon was made from parts of an industrial meat tenderizer. I did get to see all of his bots in the shop. pretty cool stuff. I don't know if he's still competing though.
I might have something that would at least make a dent The pics look great! How did you get involved in this?
Yeah from what I have been reading I would think so, The green one is made out of S7 tool steel that is hardened to 45-50 rockwell the wall thickness is any where from .5" on the sides and .25" on the top and bottom. The chasis it self almost weighs 10 pounds. When I was in Dunwoody they have a team and I was president of the tech club and just kinda started working on them because alot of the people I knew there were doing it. I work on cars all the time so I thought it was interesting, plus I get to destroy things and the other team doesn't get mad at you.
No, probably not unless they get a news spot. I'm going to head down today for a while. Didn't compete this year due to some.... creative differences with my teachers. Definitely go watch if you can, this event is pretty big this year, from what i hear. Rugburn will put on a good show, and i'm sure there are plenty of other 'bots that will be fun. Competition is 10-6 today and i think 10-4 sunday.
Well it turned out to be a good turn out. We didn't do as well as we thought we would but that was do to judging. One of our fight with Rugburn we lost because of the judges, the team we were fight even thought they lost but some how they won. After that I started to do grudge matches. The final match one team forfeited so they asked everyone if there was somebody that wanted to fight to put on a show, I put Rugburn in and in one hit almost took off one of the other teams side panel.
