Alright, so I'm having a ****ty problem. During boost (10psi) oil is being shot out of my pcv/pvc (whichever it is) system. Not just alittle oil, no pretty much ran her dry :eek4::ugh: Right now the system is obviously open to atmosphere. I have one of the valve cover hoses connected to the crankcase tube with a T-fitting (one connection is open on that fitting). The other valve cover hose is just chillin. My fear is that if i close the connections the pressure will be too great and blow either my evo3 16g or the main seal, or something will go catastrophically wrong. Should I close the system, or is there a device that will remedy this issue? Thanks, Thomas
IMHO something already has gone wrong. I would look at doing a compression test ASAP. I would suspect ring land failure.
I had a problem with the breather hose that goes to the PCV was opening to air and spraying oil out onto the main wire harness.
^As of now, that is what im hoping is wrong. The oil light came on after multiple pulls/abuse on dirt roads. (luckily i had some rotella in the trunk). Comp test will prove if its piston to cylinder wall failure tho :eek4:
Funny how you left this out of the orignal post. If you saw the oil light while in hard boost your on borrowed time every time you start the car.
^Ummm....I'm not seeing the humor here... I put 4 quarts of oil in it as soon as i realized what was happening. Though, I do admit, it was prolly too late anyways. As of now, running her low on oil like that is the least of my problems, considering I prolly need a new block, bearings, probably pistons. I just gotta make frenchtoast and lemonade and it'll be all good
I would have been more optimistic if you just would have the oil coming out of the breathers issue, but you add the oil light and you are probably F'd, mine used to barf oil out of the VC vents, then it just stopped. this was about 2 years ago.
Just checked the compression....Well, atleast 2 were good :UGH: one was half ****ty at 50psi and the other one read nothing (turned out to be the one with piston slap, cylinder #3). So I am in the market for a new block!!! YAY.
