I went to Fred's Tire just to see what they could do for some exhaust. I asked them if I brought them a resonator for the center and then had them 3" piping before and after having it just come out the back with the 3" pipe (no tip). He told me he would do some research and call me back. He called me back and told me he could only do the Borla system. I was wondering and he then answered with "Since it such a highly tuned fancy car they dont want to be reliable for engine damage" I then told him that I am not worried about it. He said they cant do it because it could likely destroy cylinders. I told him thank you and that I will let him know if I am going to go with the Borla for $850 installed[xx(]
wow.. custom exhaust will destroy your cylinders!! :-o :-o ;-) Will, go to someone who knows exhausts to make you a custom one, not some tire shop that probably doesn't even know jack about tires ;-)
If you don't mind spending a lot less for crush bent exhaust piping, Dave's Muffler over on the east side does custom exhausts for cheap! He uses galvanized piping for exhaust work. He only accepts appointments, so calling is best. His assistant heard an exhaust leak and they found a 2mm sized hole my N/A MRT header. They sealed it for free! I think this is Dave's Muffler: 1111 Payne ave. Saint Paul, MN (651)778-0887
It's hard to find an exhuast shop with the balls to step up and do real custom work. Most will talk you full of excuses untill you leave. I've heard it all from them ! Keep calling around untill you find someone who's willing to work with you. As soon as they start talking in circles, coming up with excuses, or talking you into something else; simply tell them to have a nice day  Sounds like kickin_81 has a good line on a shop that does real custom work... I"d start there. Crush bent is okay but maybe they will do mandrel bent if you buy pre-bent parts?
Try exhaust Pros in Blaine. They were excellent to me and fuji. They will do whatever you want. The guys there are young and cool. Brian is his name, I think he's the manager etc. Tell him you were referred by "the asian dude," Lol
Will, buy a full TBE set and we'll help you put it on... you have a heated garage right? Skip the custom work, it's not all that. Most of the time, you get what you pay for.
If I dont go custom I'll probably go Helix catback, or Bosal, and not sure what DP. I cant justify spending 1k on exhaust. To me, that is recockulous. I'd be willing to pay half that for a 2whp loss if that. I have no problem with the install. But Vic since you offered, if it comes down to that, you are coming over!
Will, I don't mind helping you out... if you don't want to spend 1k... should've checked nasioc.com a month and a half ago. One of the vendor had a garage clearance and was selling new Invidia TBE for $800. I'm going with a TurboXS TBE so that's why I didn't snap that baby up. I know I'll end up paying more too
i really want the txs tbe, i was thinking of maybe getting the aps 3"... i figure thats a "cheaper" alternative.

Just an option... What i did was buy the ebay erz up/down combo for 250 shipped...obviously this is an ebay brand...but it seems to work just fine for me. Then for the cat-back...you can find many used good brand cat-backs on ebay for around 300. I found a 5Zigen fireball for 275 shipped. This is what i did and everything works fine..and it was only 525 for a full tbe. I just ran into a little troube with the flange on the cat-back, so i just brought it into the local muffler shop and they fixed it for cheap. Just my 2 cents.
If you don't mind crush bends, Exhaust Pros is a very good place. Yia's midpipe that was made for him had flanges made. The other shops we took it to like the one on Pyne Ave just cuts and weld without flanges as an option. I need to buy me a madral pipe bender, a hydralic hand pump type.

How would a custom exhaust destroy cylinders? To be nicer to the turbo, you should have as little restriction as possible. It sounds like these guys have no clue. Will, call me and I'll hook you up with the people that did Kevin's exhaust.
well..i know someone who can do an exhaust system any way you want and for any size...won't take long too..i had my 3" exhaust custom from my friends..looks pretty nice..and sounds nice too..well they also did my turbo kit for my tacomatootey can do anything..yup..well i'll ask them to see if they can do it for cheap..if you have yoiur own pipes then it would be even more cheaper..all they need is to copy your stock exhaust and well do anything... wagonL
not really a shop..at all...well ...just my friends that does custom turbo kits, exhuasts, and ...anything...you know..well just ask me.... wagonL....
i know a good shop **** im at work now ill get the number and address for ya tomorrow. but they do awsome work! and he will even let ya help or watch! btw its all custom! how ever you want it
i just re-did my cat-back tonight, 2 1/2 into a cherry bomb, into 3', into my 2 1/2 pilot muffler/4 inch tip, its WAY deeper then the setup i had before, i used to have a 05 turbo legacy cat back (minus the dual exhaust y-pipe, i prefer to do my own exhaust!
