I got a set of Blizzaks for my girlfriend's car. One of the tires (as far as I know) has some damage on the inside edge of the lip. How bad is this? Will this be okay? Tire guys? 1_sic_rex? What do you think? Derek
Do you see the nylon cords? i think it may be junk but when you take it somewhere to have mounted just ask them if they will mount it for you. it looks like it will hold air. good luck
As long as you can't see the steel cord through the rubber right there is is fine. If you can see steel it's junk, as the steel will rust and the sidewall of the tire will separate from the bead.
That should be fine, the area where the sealing takes place looks like it's undamaged. You will be safe.
looks ok... cosmetic by the looks in that bad pic... get some bead sealant and run around that edge then remount!!! I have mounted worse and never had leaks...
I agree with Nathan. It looks mostly cosmetic, but bead sealant is cheap insurance. Especially on snow tires with soft sidewalls (even more so the Nerf tires that Bridgestone calls Blizzaks).
We just had a car tonight that had a bead destroyed very similar to that. We replaced it, but it did hold air. Not gonna guarantee that it'll seal corectly forever tho.
