Here's a handy FYI. Hankook RS2 Z212s do not make good snow tires. It's kinda like driving on soap. Tomorrow morning is going to be sooo much fun.
True.... in Fargo I think they have the plows in storage and aren't breaking them out. I feel sorry for for anyone without awd.
i'm sorry guys, it's my fault it snowed. i ordered my big fat sticky tires, and mike called god to let him know a good time to spoil my fun. My bad.
Change the order to snow tires and some chains for them as well.... then it will be 80 tomorrow. :dunno:
i work for a transportation company and the city apologiezed to us, they had already started decomissioning the plows for the season, so they had all of 10 plows left available to go around..... But i have a couple subarus, so i've had a blast all day
Yeah, I think I helped compound the problem with my z212 order also. Plus, it certainly doesn't help that my scooby is on jackstands right now........and I've been driving the MIATA all week. :ugh: :eek4: So -- if I don't post anything tomorrow it's because I died on my drive to work, lol. Wish me luck.
+eleventy to that. Just got home, and the drive was terrifying. Even the tinyest bit of gas when I was trying to start up at a light seemed to make the wheels spin.:ugh:
the kumhos actually did ok. as long as I did not jump on the gas or the breaks I was fine from st. paul to home.
Sick of winter says the lone grand cherokee driver on MNsubaru. Need another RS and I will tollerate it. Maybe.
No kidding. I was near 2000 rpm all day on my not quite broken in yet rs2's... and of course it snows the day after I sell my stockers
So, I made it to work alive, even managed to get to a couple of firecalls in the middle of the night. My ABS has seen more use in the last 12 hours than in the 2 years I've had the car, and my handling is a bit of a crap shoot right now. I'm bolting up the Hakkas tonight. Damn this weather.
The weather is fine, just get all the people who don't know how to drive off of the road and everything else will work itself out. Seriously. Some jerk almost hit me yesterday because he decided that BEFORE he got onto the off ramp was the best time to slam on his brakes when someone was coming up the other side. And people wonder why I hate cloverleafs... Thankfully i was able to swerve around him pretty quickly and take off.
All snow melted for the most part in Mound. I even got out and drove around about a mile on the bike before I decided road salt is almost as slippery as sand. Also, I could barely feel my clutch hand so I had to throw in the towel. I cruised home in 2nd for the most part, just so I didnt have to do anything.
figures after i put my g009s on it snows. i was scared to drive in this shiz, with the tread on summers. however it wasnt that big of deal. i figured out if the ground was white i can do anything. brake = abs, gas = spin. when i got to my parking spot i looked at my tires and they were caked in snow, no tread showing just snow. that night i was about to stick the hakkas back on, but it appears the snow is gone again. when i get home i will post up a pic of my tread, its awesome!
I just went to Duluth last night...they have a good amount of snow....and between the snow and wind it was like December all over again...yuk!
G009s will do fine in snow and ice, they're not Hakkas but I wouldn't compare them to a true summer either. They're all season rated so they won't harden up as badly as the Falkens/Kooks/RE070s etc. and they've got more tread blocks to handle the snow/ice.
^ hahaha, my g009s are at the END of their life (over 60k on em). you have to see the pics. this is their 3rd summer, the compound i am on now (whats left) is super hard probably to prolong tread life. it is utter junk in snow. the first winter yah they were great, now..... scary. verdict: I <3 Hakkapalittas!
hehe, i little glimpse at my summer rubber. and yes i know i was running alittle too much negative camber. theres ~1/8" left on em ;-)
