I am picking up an impreza tomorrow that has a jdm ej20g engine and ra tranny, etc. swapped into it. The ra tranny in the impreza has that dccd (controllable center diff) thing... Im wondering if I can make that work without the controller/switch? Right now the wires are cut.. So its free diff which makes it 35/65 from what I understand... I wanna be able to have 50/50 awd, especially when the snow falls. I have looked online and cant seem to find any useful info on this..

Is it possible to wire in just a toggle switch or something?

I know dccdPro has a controller, but thats around $200 or so, and thats money I dont really have at the moment.

    Hopefully someone can help!
    Thanks in advance

From the searching i did no you can not do that. I ended up getting the dccdpro and it has worked great.

Just leave it, you wont need 50/50 I promise. Your automatic legacy was 90/10 until it actually started to slip.

Fuji, why do you ask? Lol For the record, I do own the car now.
as far as what year, im not sure. Ill have to look for part numbers or something on the tranny.. (unless there is a different way to tell?)

Another question, will the dccd in this car work with the switches and stuff from a newer sti? Through my research ive seen people say that there would be alot of wiring involved, but does anybody know what has to be done or how to do it?

When I need the center diff the most I just rig my center did to the battery. I'll get the controller hopefully this spring.it's a simple setup. The center diff gets powered and the LSD engages depending on the amount of voltage going to it.

Get the one with the g sensor, I'm not liking the fully manual controller gotta turn it all the way down on sharp turns or it drives like a pickup.

So fuji, is there a way I can just wire up a toggle switch to make it 50/50, and turn the switch off to make it 65/35 again? if I can, could you make a wiring diagram or let me know which wires go to what?

When you apply voltage to the center diff, the transfer clutch will apply a certain amount. The more you apply the more lockup. The center diff will always be 35:65. The transfer clutch LSD limits the amount of slippage allowed front to back.
