I pretty sure someone has done it...any suggestions on getting rid of the logo on the grill? I would like it to be gone in addition to the support piece behind it. I could cut, smooth and repaint. What do you think?

I swapped my OEM grille for an aftermarket part, bought it used for pretty cheap. Very clean.

I did this to mine ('04 WRX) for just the cost of paint. Aegis gave me and old grille she had sitting around, so I cut it up.

The rear mesh is just attached with some (usually 4 to 6 I think) clips to the back of the plastic piece. Remove those, cut the center piece out, sand / dremel it down, use bondo to fill / smooth any gaps, sand again, prime, paint, done.

    Debadging

Cool...thanks for the input. I have an 05. I think I'll try and find a used one to mess with and then swap it out when I'm done.

    Any recommendations on aftermarket grills?

    My Car picture.....

Keep you stock grill and buy another one from a junkyard experitment/mod your extra grill, keeping the stock one incase you ever want to go back to orignal.

I love the de-badged look, Good Luck!
