I've finally debadged my car! But, I can't seem to get all the tacky residue off the trunk. I've rubbed lots and lots of Goo-Gone over it, but it seems to be taking forever for it to rub off so I stopped that and finished waxing/polishing my car. What else can I use to get it all off? I'll get back to it in the spring before I do another wax/polish job. :)

they make a special adhesive remover for that kind of thing. It looks like a real big eraser that you put into a drill, and it will not burn through the paint.

rubbing compound and then polishing compound, then the paint wont look all scratched to hell from all the chemicals, you learn a thing or two from detailing for a long time

3M makes an adhesive remover for this kind of thing and it's carried in your local NAPA store.

I had those faint lines too, but I just re-waxed those areas with cleaner wax, and they rubbed right out.

Go to Home Depot, and get a bottle of "Goo Gone" Apply liberally with a rag, allow it a minute or three to soak in. Then rub off the sticky stuff with your hands or with a terry towel. Make sure you use a cleaner wax when you are finished, then apply two or three coats of wax over the area.

    A pencil eraser.
apply the goo-gone, and let it soak in. then use the eraser of the pencil to rub the goo off. keep using goo gone as a lubricant while you rub.

The softer erasers work better (like the kind on mechanical pencils)

Just wax your car every couple months. Paint will fade regardless of if you pull some badges off. Remember, the area under your badges got the same amount of clearcoat that the rest of the car did. Just polish it up and wax it and you'll be fine.

i pulled the badging off my trunk. it spent prolly 7yrs of its life in new mexico. pulled the badges off and the paint was mint! no fading.

i highly doubt there will be any fading. if there is put the badge back on.
