Dimly Lit CEL

Yesterday I noticed that my check engine light was very lightly illuminated. It is so dim, I can only notice it at night. The CEL seems to get a tad brighter the longer the car is on, but it never gets very bright. Obviously, the car isn't tossing any CEL that I can read (yes, I did check).

The car is an '06 WRX with around 10k miles on it. No engine mods of note, other then my custom stage 1 tune, which has been on the car for around about 5k miles.

Has anyone ever heard of/seen this before?

Also, I did recently install an EGT sensor in the drivers side manifold, could that be the cause?

Yeah, the car isn't throwing any code. It's like the CEL isn't even there, and the light is just hardware malfunctioning, or something. I say this because it returns immediately even after resetting the ECU.

 

Maybe its the light that illuminates it is malfunctioning?

Could it be an adjacent light shining through?

 

Yea, he's paranoid, he checked mine out and both the same.
we both have it, lol, it's nothing to worry about

If you stare long enough at where the CEL is, u can see it (at night time)
