there was a thread on here somewhere about it, I just put my disc's in the car hoping to get out soon. I know alot of people on here play.
I played for the first time last fall and loved it! I've been meaning to set some money aside for a few discs.
I tried searching before i posted but came up empty handed. i played at basset creek the other day. was windy, but no one was on the course. super enjoyable
Where is a good place to buy discs? I know the big box stores have them, but I'd like to help out a smaller local outfit if possible.
Aside from the basics (Driver, mid range, putter) is there anything else I should get? I see some guys with a whole bag full of discs and I question whether or not it's necessary. Should I get some extras while I'm there?
So is disc the term for frisbee these days or they just avoiding copyright trouble. The light is sure bright when emerging from under the rock.
Much of it is preference on what type of plastic that you feel more comfortable with. Also, each disc has different attributes or stats whatever you want to call them which means that they sail a bit differently. http://www.discraft.com/stability.html that should answer some other questions
lol I had NO idea there was this much technical stuff involved. I have a lot to learn. Do I lose points if I call it frolf but use the term discs lol?
Lol I have friends that call it both. Its pretty interesting. the chart is reversed for me since i am a left hander

I'm getting into disc golf too. Played once years ago and now at least once a week for the last few months. Bassett Creek is my fav course so far, usually go to Highland Park since it's closer.
I should get into this. I haven't figured out how to accidentally break a frisbee yet. Sounds like a challenge.
as im approaching the final 7 weeks of college my free time has been scarce.However, Im going to try and get out to through within the next week if anyone is interested. disc's are always in the subie though.probably going to take a few days off very soon, but let me know and we can plan something hopefully.
I normally play in the core of the twin cities but here are the courses I have played; Basset Creek - Crystal Plymouth Creek - Plymouth Hansen Park - New Brighton Roseland Park - Edina Minnehaha Falls - Minneapolis (Short Play) Highland Park - St. Paul Ive only played 1 $$$ course, at Hyland Ski Hill and it sucked...
I didnt get a chance to get out much this year due to busy schedule. But I live a mile away from Hansen.
Hansen can get kind of crowded but it's a good course. Their regulars will make most people weep as they are so good.
I know they have leagues there on certain nights. not sure which days those are/were. But I like to go there for a quick round from time to time

I also play Bryant Lake the most, totally worth the season pass, though I agree Hyland sucks! I dont understand the high ratings it gets. Throwing up and down the side of an open hill trudging after your disc was terrible and I'm in decent shape. I did just hear a rumor they are closing it for the year to redo it and it will be the longest course in the country after that.
Ok, I usually have to go earlier on my days off but let's keep this thread alive and see what happens. BTW I just found out about a good idea for winter discs. Duct tape a thin ribbon about 2-3 ft long to the center of the disc, so when it cuts into the snow it leaves a tail to find it. Also dont throw DX plastic when it's below freezing it can shatter if you hit a tree. This is my first year that I'm into it enough to continue playing in the snow.
