I would go to like autozone/bumper2bumper/checker's auto and buy those cheap mudflaps, usually its for ford/GM vehicle and custom cut/fit them yourself. I think they're $19.99 or lower. By the way, they're rubber.

To get the poly for the rally style flaps tends to be kind of expensive. the cheaper route is to get the rubber ones from other vehicles. I thought I heard that some of the old Isuzu SUVs had a similar bolt pattern. probably $5 at a junk yard. Otherwise you could maybe get some big semi ones and cut to fit.

indeed. there are generic ones at any auto parts store. mud flaps are mud flaps, really. drill new mounting holes in them, and mount them up. I saw some at O'reilly's the other day that were $7.99 a pair.

I used some Autozone rubber mudflaps and cut them to fit on the toaster. They worked fine but as soon as I got up here in MN, I barely touched a curb backing up and tore one of the rear ones, and one of the front ones tore in half...... I'll probably end up ponying up the cash for some real urethane ones eventually, but for the time being the rubber ones are doing fine. They were 10 bucks a pair at Autozone.

    Hey guys.

I've been looking into making some for a while, and sorced some really nice plastic sheets in the U.K. called Kaylan - which I believe Prodrive uses for their flaps. I was going to get a couple sheets, but the shipping was silly for just a few, so I nixed the idea.

I got cheap polyurethane a set off of Ebay last fall, and noticed that I punched a hole in one of them- so it's time to go up to the Kaylan set. The sheets are 7.50 EURO, which I think is about 14.00 a sheet. I'm still waiting for verification on the exact size of the sheets, but I think they are like 8" x 12" or so. http://peterlloydrallying.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=354

So, here's the deal. If we get a couple people intersted, in 2 weeks, I'll place an order and cover shipping and product. I won't mark up the cost for the sheets, but will need to roll in the cost of shipping evenly so that everyone pitches in to help cover it. I've got a sample of the stuff, so if you want to see it before you decide, let me know and maybe we can meet up.

I've got a pattern for the 02-05 WRX's, so if you've got a GC, we might have to tweak it a little.

picture & price is on the last page.
Red, Black & Blue I think. And I *think* the sheets are like 8" x 12"

For the rally car, we went to NAPA and got some Semi-truck mud flaps for like $6.00 each. They are about 1/4" thick and uber aggressive. I think we used a jigsaw to cut them and they've lasted a long time. the only problem is that you might get a bit of logo on each one.

    Right on.
I've got E-mails into 2 places in the U.K. that sell the stuff. I'll post again when I get the cost per sheet and the exact size. I'm also going to try to beat up one of the guys for the shipping cost - as this is what happened to the cheap a$$ set that I got from him in the fall:

No, I hadn't seen that stuff before, but it's only avail in a couple colors.
My secretary used to work at a plastics place, so she's going to contact her old co-workers and see if they can get anything similar here.

The pic above is the cheap set that I have now. Apparently the Kaylan stuff is what they use on the WRC cars.

One of the vendors jsut got back to me, and he has the stuff in 1.5m x 600mm sheets - which is roughly 23" x 59".

Would this size piece work for everyone?
    11.5" x 14.75"

You can cut the stuff with a good, sharp pair of Fiskars scissors really cleanly. I'm waiting on the dude to get a price for the pieces on the drawing- which would do 4 cars total. If those sizes work, I'll just get on it and devide the shipping cost by 8, and charge my cost for each set. I'll post when the dude gets back to me.

:eek4:  Are you sure that this will hold up? my fastline flaps would make mince meat out of fiskars if you tried to cut them up.

if you got some ureathane to make flaps I'd prefer to have some that are longer and a bit wider than regular rally armour flaps. I got a set now and kinda would like a longer set up front to keep the side skirts clean, I want them to be like .5 inch off the ground, true rally style.

You guys are right, the 11.5 isn't wide enough.

Carl, I'll rely on you to let me know what size sheets would be widest- because I assume yours will be super agro.

i pmed you back with my address b4. i wouldnt care if they are too big cuz i can cut them down. so whatever carl is looking for id rather have to cut it smaller than have tiny flaps.
