I don't know about you guys but I personally think the news that's in our media today is just a bunch of garbage. We probably spend more time talking about what breed of dog Obama is going to get instead of talking about world conflicts like the flooding in the Asian islands.

Here's a video just to show how arrogant some people can be.

Newsmap.jp is great website I use to see what's going on in today's news.

LOL....Sometimes there is no important news so they just have to pick on "have you heard kind of stories"

What we are being spoon fed is far from news. It's garbage which has been processed and processed again, the majority of it lacking any true substance. I see a lot of it as high tech fear mongering. Everywhere you look/read/etc the headlines read "TERROR".

We are fed a carefully crafted diet of "entertainment" which continuously dumbs us down.

    IMNSHO, of course.

Yeah that was just plain stupid how we spent a whole week on Michael Jackson and his family.

American news outlets are directed by special interest groups. Many people gravitate to the news outlet that reflects their affinity with these special interest groups, whether they realise it or not. They are then spoon-fed 'news' that helps to reinforce their beliefs. Each of these news outlets claims to be impartial.

THERE ARE NO IMPARTIAL NEWS OUTLETS IN AMERICA TODAY.

And no, The Onion doesn't count.

In Europe, most of our news outlets have a slanted view as well, but they tend not to keep their allegiances secret, e.g. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article2661063.ece

The problem with American network news is that people tune in to have their opinions validated, rather then challenged. This creates a bunch of news channels that spoon feed people what they want to hear, and are most certainly not impartial.

There's a reason why John Stewart is America's most trusted newscaster (an online poll, but hey).

I was in the Tap Room at work when "breaking news" that Chicago didn't get the Olympics came on. That took me 20 seconds to type; but the whole lunch was spent "covering" this "breaking news." I imagine it went on for much longer. Seriously, just say, "Chicago didn't get the 2016 Olympics. Rio did. It's a first time for South America. Probably makes good sense for it to be there." And then go back to soaps or game shows or whatever else it is that broadcasts during the day and has just as much information value.
