So, being that my Legacy is a fairly base model, it has no remote locks.

...And I regret that. My door locks keep freezing up on me. I haven't even washed the thing in a week, but the driver lock was frozen on me again this morning. I've been shooting tons of lock de-icer (methyl alcohol) into the the locks, but it only seems to work temporarily, and really only if the can is warm.

This is really driving me insane. Most of the time I have to open the passenger door, hit the power locks, then walk around and get in. Both locks were frozen when I returned from a short vacation the other day, and it took me 30 minutes of warming up my key in my hand repeatedly until the lock gave way.

    Anybody have any suggestions? Help!

You know, I was going to try that, but my buddy buys the worst childproof baby-sized lighters in history, so I couldn't get the thing to stay light in the lightest breeze. It was stupid.

You've personally witnessed me buying at least that much worth of parts for this car!

Sidenote: Finally checked the valves and installed all those valve cover gaskets and o-rings a couple weeks ago. All because I wanted to put new spark plugs in it!

Wouldn't ya know, I left work this afternoon and my doors locks were all frozen! after trying over and over again my passenger side unlocked and I had to carefully crawl in from that side(not easy in a small car)

I think every gas station in MN has these, they sell for like a dollar and work like magic.
