may be putting a catless down pipe on my 2010 STI and a Cosworth cold air intake. would it be a good idea to wrap the top half of the down pipe with heat wrap?

Wrapping it would keep heat out of the engine bay. This is going to be more noticeable for people like myself who run a TMIC. Since the DP is close to the TMIC, heat can radiate from the DP and warm the TMIC. I am not sure what your setup is. I know when I have talked about this in the past with people they say that wrapping the up-pipe is more noticeable, but there is nothing wrong with wrapping the DP.

probably 'bout $100 bones to get it ceramic coated -- I had a 3"er coated this spring.... For what its worth, if I could do it over again, I would have wrapped it also...

Also it can cause premature CV boot failure on the passenger side if it is not wrapped
