I just bought the Invivdia G200 catback, and now I am looking into some downpipes. I would like to get the Invidia downpipe but am not sure what to get. I would like to get one that wont throw CEL. If i get the catted one, will I throw CEL? Any suggestions or experiance with these would be helpfull. Thanks

ERZ Downpipes/UpPipes are nice and works great. Got mine installed and drove it for 1.5 days w/o tune and it doesn't throw any CEL but got my car tuned after that. Its better if you get it tuned, if you're putting a aftermarket DP. Otherwise get a Machanical CEL fix from ebay for like $8 and dont worry about tuning.

If you havn't got any UP and DP yet, Ebay got a combo deal for ERZ UP/DP, goes for $199 shipped, if i remember mine correctly.

    ^^^dumb offer of advice...

tuning has nothing to do with the cel you get.... tuning is what will save your engine.... and as a bonus the tuner can turn off that cell... the mechanical fix only fools the ecu into thinking you still have a signal from the 02 sensor, so if you dont have one hooked up, and dont get re-tuned cause you took above said advice, then your car is thinking it is getting a signal when it isnt and is adding appropriate or in-appropriate fuel to counter knock or lean trims etc...

if you are gonna go stage 2, get at least a base map installed to suit it...

Thanks Nate... I have him blocked, but it doesn't help if you quote him.

I second the motion that it is horrible advice. My first question would be whether or not the G200 can bolt up to factory downpipes. This will let you know what other kinds of downpipes you can run. Basically, there's 2 kinds (for the most part):

    1) Factory-style which mates the cat-back to the midpipe with a donut-style gasket.

    2) "Aftermarket-style" which usually has a flat flange for mating the downpipe and cat-back together. Usually seals with a flat gasket.

I usually recommend staying away from ebay merch and stick to quality pieces. As they say, "buy nice or buy twice". Look on NASIOC for good deals on downpipes. Invidia DP's are handed around like village bicycles on there if that's what you want.

As far as tuning is concerned, get an off-the-shelf map at bare minimum. CEL fixes are a joke and unnecessary after that.

    In downpipes though?

Nuke's right, there are OCCASIONALLY things that are fine from an ebay merchant but I wouldn't give it a 50/50 ratio. That's my own perspective though.

well there's cheap and there is stupid....

not calling you either but your advice landed in that category...

I have bought cheap ERZ stuff... had it on my wrx for 4yrs.. worked fine... did what you said... but also got an AP shortly afterwards... to suit the stg 2

I just bought an ERZ up-pipe used for $40.. CHEAP... but installed correctly it will work fine...

    back to original question...

you can get any DP to mate to whatever you already have.. you may just have to either find someone or do it yourself, but you may need to do some cutting, rotating and welding...

BUT AT LEAST GET A BASEMAP INSTALLED!!!!

Next time you get that silly urge to post up anything in this forum I want you to take a deep breath, step away from the computer and find something else to do.

I had great luck with my TurboXS Stealthback mated to a Prodrive can. I found my setup on Ebay used with both cat and race pipes and the Maganaflow can for 525 shipped. You'll definitely win in the "who has a bigger dp" contest.
