Driving gloves

Now that it's starting to get a little chilli out I want to get some new gloves. I have some mechanics gloves that I bought for last winter but I want to use them more for what they were designed for than for driving.

I found a pair of fox racing gloves a few years ago that I really liked but they fell apart (and were really uber-bionic-techy, bleh) so I was looking for what brands people like.

I found these more low key gloves from fox.




Grow a pair and put those man hands to good use is also an option I guess, but I guess I'm just used to driving a car with a really cold metal shift knob. Plus I have really dry hands in the winter time and like the added grip.

 

I use some old man style ones I got in Italy a while ago. I love them.

 

My girlfriend bought me some nice leather ones for christmas once, although I think more intended to be glove gloves rather than driving gloves. I hate them. They're too sticky and bunch up as you turn the steering wheel. I suppose that has to do more with the fact that they're loose fitting.

I also used to have some calfskin driving gloves from simpson that I liked, but they wore out really easily.

Either way, I think I'm going to stay away from leather.

When I got my Kartboy shift knob, I decided to keep the OEM leather one around for winter use.

I just can't get over the cheesy "driver glove" styling...just reminds me of some snobby Porsche driver in the Alps...or a James Bond movie. I would like a style more along the lines of the pic Bummpy has; with a thin high wear stretch fabric. However, I don't forsee finding anything that fits that bill.

Look for cold weather dirtbike gloves. They make some pretty low profile ones what are tough, slightly warmer than ambient temps, hug your hand like a glove should, and have good grip. That basically is what you have the first post picture.

 

mine ate a lot less cheesy styled than the $3 ones in the pic, i don't mine them. If the leather is very thin but good theyre more comfortable to me than synthetic gloves that I use for karting and stuff.

 

For winter, I use a pair of Swix gloves that are intended for Cross Country skiers.

They've got a neoprene back, and a very thin leather palm like the Mechanix tpe gloves. They aren't super warm for outside the car, but they're perfect inside.

Either way though, I only have a 10-15min. commute. The heat doesn't really get to pumpin' until I'm halfway to work.

i like sketchers for driving shoes...

i think ill go check out those swiss gloves. my drive to work is 1 mile, from heated garage, but drive back, metal knob will be cold, but id like to get a pair for grip too, i get sweaty when im on long aggressive drives.

 

No worry, it is just my feeling... I realize I have different taste than the norm on a lot of things.

 

I have a set of Uggs mens driving gloves. Really freakin warm, but I don't think they make them anymore. If you can find them they are worth it.
