Anybody have experience with the sound deadening matieral...Dynamat and/or Dynamat Extreme? I'm thinking about installing them in my car, to quiet the rattles, keep the noise out, and make the acoustics better. I hear on some forums that it makes your ride quiet like a Bimmer's? Any thoughts on this......
I had a buddy install throughout his trunk and doors on his focus (sema car) and it worked very well. Worth it if you have the time to do it right.
A little silence would be nice. I wonder how much Dynamat costs...but it adds weight, keep that in mind.
I did use it extensively in my camaro to deaden road noise. It works, its not cheap. Make every square inch count!
I got a quote from Best Buy for price + install for around $250.00 If my car can be as quiet as a Bimmer/Lexus for $250, that would be a sweet deal.
At best, they might do the underside of the truck lid for $250. Dynamat is very expsive and time consuming. i would guess to make the iside of your car as quite as a bimmer it will cost you over 10 times that amount. I used 8 larger rolls when I did my standard cab chev pu, and my COST was $90 a roll (each roll is like 20 sqft). I have a extra roll of extreme sitting at my house if someone is looking for some. also if you want to cut down on road noise invest in some time on a hoist and get a very thick type of undercoating, it helps worlds as well
I seem to remember hearing about some generic dynamat stuff (something to do with "Brown"?) that was cheaper and did almost equally as well. I think you can find it on the ebays. Might be worth researching if you're gonna end up doing the whole car...
I know on NASIOC a lot of people like a product called RAMMAT. I personally have Dynamat Extreme on my front door panels, and the next place will be on the trunk door. Hopefully after that I'm going to do the floor and above the headliner with one of the cheaper alternitaves (Probably RAMMAT) because Dynamat is just so bloody expensive. Dynamat does work very well though. It does a great job at adding density and shifting the resonant frequency of the door panels to somewhere more useful to the music.
I did my car last fall, i did the floor, roof, doors and the trunk.it only added around 10 pounds. I used a product called fatmat it works just as good as dynomatt and only cost me a little over $100 to do the whole car
whatever works, the cheaper the better...........and I don't care too much about the added weight especially 10 lbs-50lbs......I anit racing everywhere I go anyway. Anybody wanna do it for me too. Hook it up already!
I've done a bit in my trunk, because my sub rattled a lot of crap back there, mainly the trunk lid, so I put a fair amount on that, and did some of the areas in the truck, and now only my third brake light rattles a bit, added plenty of weight to the trunk lid, it closes really easy now, and you gotta watch it when it windy out, because it comes down easy. Ideally I'd like to do the floor and roof, but I'd probably have to get some one to help me take the seats, console and carpet out I'm pretty clueless to that. My last car had it on the door panels, it made a huge difference. Sound deadning stuff it all money well spent on a car. For $250 at best buy I doubt they'll do much.
