e-brake question

I'm almost done with my disc conversion, this is the first time having a subaru with rear disc. Anyway, when I set the e-brake and roll the car back and forth, it rolls a tiny distance and I can hear a clunking noise out of the passenger side. The e-brakes are working though, it just feels a lot different than when I had the drums on there. There's absolutely no clunk if I press the brake pedal and try to roll the car.

I adjusted the parking brake shoes as far out as I could and still be able to get the rotors on.

Is this normal, or can I adjust it out, or is something messed up in there? (I'm gonna go double check, but I thought I had assembled everything the right way.)

maybe the rotor/drums are over spec....

 

well, I double checked everything, as far as I can tell everything is installed the right way. I guess I'll just have to use that little inspection hole in the back of the knuckle to adjust the e-brake a bit tighter.

 

Usually there's a hole like that for just that reason, but I haven't done a Subaru brake like that. On our Altima, it's accessed through e plug on the front of the rotor.

 

Are you talking about when you are facing up a slope? My e-brakes wave always done this. Set it on a hill, and the car rocks backward for a little bit. As in something is shifting around in the drum assembly a little bit.

 

Yeah, that's the same thing I'm noticing. Yeah, I think something is shifting in there, it kinda makes sense when I look at how it works now. I just need to adjust as much as I can within the e-brake itself, rather than with the cable.
