Went to start the car this morning, 09 wrx e85 tuned w/ supporting mods, and it would start for a second or two then die. Did this multiple times, then I gave up. I park in a garage that is only barely warmer than outside, about 4°f. Normally car runs great, have had no issues thus far. Maybe just the nature of the E? Anyone else have issues with this?
My E85 started up fine this morning. Also running a 09 WRX. I know that Brian was fine as well E85 on 08 WRX. who tuned your car?
yes! you will have problems starting up in the morning with e85.... a few tries should start the car up but, today was pretty cold!
Sorry i should have said, Yes E85 will do this to you... but could also have to do with your tune. I have very little knowledge on this subject besides driving my own car. I know i was having start up issue when it got colder this fall. I called my master virus technician and he tweaked some stuff and I have been fine ever since. So i thought i would throw that idea out there.
it most likely has to do with your cold start idle and enrichment on your tune. I know mine if it sits outside over night at anything bellow zero it will not start. I just have not taken the time to adjust the map being its parked in heated parking 75% of the time and is rarly outside parked over 3% of the time.
It was actually my fiancee that went out to try to start it so we didnt spend much time trying because we had to leave for work. Anyways, it has always taken a couple mor revolutions to fire in the cold, but it has always started. I will see whats up when I get home, I have also been thinking about going to get a REALLY cold start tun e, so i can flash that in when necessary. It does seem to be fairly normal to have issues w/ cold start due to higher oxygen concentration and lower energy. Makes it harder for the E to evaporate apparently. Especially when its parked overnight in a garage that was around 0deg. F
It probably needed to have some throttle assistance while starting it to stay running. This once happened to me every morning for a couple of days. I then figured out that it was the gas that was not good that i filled up at various stations. I therefore, went back to my regular fill up station with (85% Ethanol) and it was all G O O D. I now just start it up normally and it fires like a champ:banana:. I neither park in a heated garage nor a heated ramp.:sadbanana:
