I have a 2006 STI and i went to get it tuned from a local tuner and the two wires(under the steering wheel) that are supposed to plug in to the tuning computer would not work and it would not flash, or go in to test mode. We tried everything and even found that there was no current in the wires. Just wondering if anyone could help out with this or if anyone has encountered it and/or recommendations. thanks a lot.
does the 06 have the 2 green connectors? then also has another white connector that u have 2 put a terminator block on or did they do away with that?
there should not be much for current in those wires since it's just a signal to the ecu to put it into test mode. you're talking about the two green plugs that plug into each other, not the computer, right? Bring it to one of the tuners on here that would know how to tune it. http://mnsubaru.com/forums/showthre...leTuning-OpenECU-Road-Tuning?highlight=tuning or RS motors or Modern Automotive Performance
It's not quite clear from your post, were the green connectors actually there? And, you hooked them up, but the ECU wouldn't enter flash mode once they're connected? If the above is the case, there is another set of connectors on the passenger side that may have been disconnected at some point. These need to be connected as well. If you pull the passenger door entry trim/kick panel piece, you'll see another set of identical connectors over there.
i've heard of some dealerships cutting off the green connectors, not sure if it's true or previous owner (if any) probably ripped them off?
Yeah, they were there and looked stock. When plugged in, the car would not go in to test mode. The wires should have do 12v when connected, and when tested with a multimeter, did not show any current. Now that you mention it, I did not check the second set of connectors on the drivers side. Sounds like Will brought the car to the dealership today, who fixed the issue. I'll post up details (provided he has them) after the tune tonight.
zyklon wins one gold star, sounds like it was the connectors on the passenger side. Never seen those disconnected on a previously stock car, but you learn something every day! Here's some results from Will's car; an '06 STI, 70 mm APS intake, GMBCS, TBE. Quite good power, the APS intake's can be quite good.
