ive been searching around and cant find the flow rate of the EJ18 injectors. Can these injectors be modded for better flow? if they can be, would it be worth modding them or should i just buy larger ones?
The flow rating for the ej18 is less then the 2.2s which i believe are 300s, If you are going turbo, it will be worth it to just switch to ej22/25 injectors, since they pop right in, if you are interested I have some I would sell for cheap. Furthermore they cannot be modded.
ok thanks for the info, i think im going to track down a set of sti sidefeed (yellows) then. anyone have a set for sale?
The EJ22E injectors flow something around 280cc/min. The EJ22T injectors flow up in the range of 340cc/min. The E and T injectors are interchangeable. I do not know how they drop into a EJ18 but the EJ22E and the EJ18 are fairly similar in design. I found that running EJ22T injectors in my EJ22E without management caused me to run rich to a point where my car idled rough from too much fuel. STi injectors flow more than the EJ22T ones, so be prepared to dial them down after you install them.
yea i was looking tio use the ej22t injectors but i would need a different fuel rail for them to fit, so im going to go with the sti yellows because they are a perfect fit. i am using an emanage for management and ive heard that all i have to do is scale the maf 40%, but im not real sure.
^ sounds like you know what you are doing. Kind strange I figured the Tleg rails would drop right in, since they do on the EJ22E. I guess the EJ18 is more different than I thought. Also I just checked. Stock EJ22E injectors flow 240cc/min. EJ22T injectors flow 370cc/min.
thanks for the good information, do you know if the resistance of the injectors are the same on all subarus?
The resistances will be fine. 22T injectors don't drop into the later 22E rails, like the set I was using. Different style. The later 22E rails use the same fitment as the side feed STi and the SR20, and I have been using the latter.
