    Unless you're going built/high-hp, a factory short block might be a good option- brand new everything, assembled and ready to bolt your heads to. Not as expensive as you'd think, either.

    That may be the route he has to go but one may turn up. I think he would get a discount on the short block as well working at a dealership.
