Any idea what causes the stock stereo in a 2005 Legacy GT to randomly increase or dcrease the volume on its own? Only happens once every three or four months with no pattern that i can determine. Also, we have headlights burn out very often, we have owned car since new and have replaced headlights 5 times on both sides. Pretty ridiculous.

Both issues were talked to death on LegacyGT.com. I have had the volume thing happen just once on my '05 GT. Seems to be something inherent in the head unit. Some headlight bulbs seem to last longer than others. Sylvania Silverstars are very short lived. I would try a different brand. Seems some Legacys go through a set a year and others can go years. I don't think there was ever an agreed upon solution or fix to either issue although some advocated for disconnecting the daytime running lights. I have been using Osram 65 watt H7s and have been happy with them but I don't put on a ton of miles (less than 40k in 5 years).

my 05 does the radio thing too (sometimes) NBD to me. no headlight issues yet after about 7 months of ownership. i know none of this helps but I just wanted to be involved in the legacy stuff!
