    1997 Impreza Outback Sport - 2.2
    VIN# JF1GF4859WH802292

    Where can I find the engine code for this car? Any sources I can use to learn up on it?

    how do you blow up a 2.2? must have had something to do with lack of oil, they are VERY easy to locate, and very worth fixing!

    I'm not directly familiar with the car, but he said he lost a timing belt. Took it in and the mechanic told him he bent a valve. It still ran with the new belt and he apparently continued to drive it. He called and told me it finally quit. I haven't looked at it...could be anything I suppose, but I'm guessing it's this. Thought I would see if there's cheap motors out there instead of trying to find a head. No time to really check it out for him. Thanks for the lead Shane.

    that sucks, 97 was the first year for an interference 2.2. too bad.
