If you know how to do it than I suggest that you do what you please. Otherwise you will be digging in your pockets to pay for the block, parts, and the swap, people don't just swap these things for free, and it isn't going to be cheap either. Don't just consider the parts prices, but the time spent putting it in is where it really counts too, this is why I letted my precious wagon go a go after it's rolla tip.

Yes, what bee said .. also, you need to sit down and think about what you really want the car to do in the end. If you just want it to be STi fast because it's a subaru - you're going to pay out the ass for parts you don't need. Also, you need to have a set amount in mind. Don't buy a whole totaled STi for 10K when you can buy lots of parts (including a block) for the 10K. Talk to other RS owners here who have done similar things with their cars, and see what they have. I would never just jump in - and even if you're doing it little by little, you could find out later on that what you've worked up to is exactly what you want - and then have a ton of parts lying around that you need to get rid of.

    So yes here

What do I want the car to do? Do I want it to be fast? Do I want it to be loud? Do I want both of those things?
How much am I *willing to spend* on this project?
    and lastly
How much is it all going to cost me in the end?
(because willing to spend is often < total cost of project)

There are people here who will help with swaps for nothing more than a case of beer. That will be very good for you in the long run. I hope this helps.

I'm not trying to make her feel bad, but this sounds just like me when I first bought the wagon - and I had nobody to ask for help (and then the car died anyway haha)

I'm just saying that there are things to think of first. If she thought of them already - great! Ignore my advice  but a project on a car requires serious planning. And lots of it. And planning sucks haha :)

It's not bringing the mood down. lol It's what Fobia did when I thought about buying my car. Do I think a bunch of handraisers will help me swap my wagon? Maybe...What happens when something goes wrong and we don't have anyone that knows what the problem is? They'lll turn their heads and walk away. Time is money, some people do it for a case of beer, some don't. Then again do you really want someone to swap it for you if they only want a case of beer? Are they going to drink that case of beer while putting all these parts in that you just spent your money on? Just something to think about.

Some people work better with beers involved ;)

Basically, take what ever you think its going to cost and double it. That will get you in the ballpark. I thought I could get away with $10k.

    Wait.

You mean you actually read our suggestions and are taking them to heart?

You mean to tell me that you, a resident of the internet at large, asked a legitimate question and when people gave you answers you weren't necessarily looking for nor pleased about, you listened to them? GTFO here!

    Unpossible.
