They also call it the "rust-proofing" package which I purchased with my FXT. This is what they told me to convince me to purchase it for $800 over the price I'm paying for my car: -doesn't require me to wax my car ...ever -increases the trade-in value of my car -the coating goes for the exterior, under carraige, seats, dashboard, etc. -shields against bird poop, road tar, rock chips, spills, stains, etc. -extends the brilliance of the exterior paint and increases the rust warranty Does anyone here have this on their car? How do you like it? Was it worth it?
Why would you not want to wax your car? Shields against rock chips...is it like an entire car 3M thingy? Every car buying tips website I've ever read insists that these packages are a rip off. If someone else knows otherwise I'd be interested to hear about it.

I called BP Subaru and spoke with a tech. He sounded very calm and professional explaining this "auto armor" product to me. The exterior protection is a teflon based coating that they spray all over the car and they add a permanent gel around the door jams, crevices, fuel door, etc to prevent trapped moisture (in common areas on the car) that causes rust. I don't think I'll need to wax the car as often. The undercarraige is a rubberized undercoating that is designed to further resist against rust and provides extra sound deadening from gravel and such. Lastly, the interior is protected on the seats, carpets, floor mats, dashboard, steering wheel, console, etc. to prevent fading, cracking, staining, and anything else that can happen in there. I'm satisfied after the conversation with him. If I didn't buy it on my car then, I would have bought it later.
When my father-in-law bought his 2003 in 2002, the dealer didn't bid him up with that offer. My father-in-law said to the dealer "Now I know you are going to offer the environmental package..." (he always turns it down) and the dealer said, it's on all of our cars, it's already done. Hmmm?
