Has anyone used silencers in their aftermarket exhaust? I am this --> <-- close to trading my Perrin for a Megan Racing as the Perrin is sometimes just to effin loud. But - for $100 I could get a pair of silencers and perhaps tame the beast when needed.

Silencer for a aftermarket exhaust is like a Stock cbe, for me. It just sounds more funny with the silencer in. I wouldn't recommand it unless you're going on a long trip.

^^ Indeed. The 1k mile trip with the current setup would be, well, painful. I could definitely live with the stock CBE tone.

    Lauder muzak?

I have two resonators on my exhaust, plus the massive can, and it is tolerable on a seven hour trip.

Someone stole my silencer back when I had my ricer civic. Not off the car though, it was in the grass in front of my house. Yeah I used to be one of those guys, then I saw the light, or could afford to head towards the light of a subaru

Wait until you get a citation for loud muffler...then you'll think about using that silencer.

Thanks for the input, guys. My car is currently catless, which amplifies the exhaust tone somewhat. And I'm not a kid anymore, so turning up the music for 1k miles isn't really an option. :)

Rather than swap for the Megan setup I'm going to try the silencers.

Don't get me wrong - I love the growl the car has, even at low rpms. Putting through town in 2nd still turns the occasional head. At WOT it barks very nicely. It's just that putting up with the quite loud drone for 16 hrs would be a pain in the arse.

How big are your tips? I have two silencers from Megan Racing exhaust for 08+ sedan WRX. I think they are 4". I don't need them for now, let me know if they would work for you.

Be careful getting on the gas if you toss on silencers. They are incredibly restrictive to airflow and will almost certainly cause some issues with WOT pulls on any custom tuned car.

They are 4" tips, and the parts which I've got coming are Megan Racing. Thanks for the offer, but they should be here this week. :)

Roger that, which is why the wife won't be driving. She tends to drive it like she stole it. :)
