Went and hung out with Chuck (Fab King) and had a new 3" Catback (from the shorty downpipe) welded up yesterday. The cheap Ebay can I had on before was definitely long overdue for replacing. Anyway. On to the photos!

What I had before. Ebay can was annoying.

Just a start, tacked up the resonator. Yes, full 3".

Yes, that one bounced off his head.

Getting a general idea how to keep it up against the body as well as possible.

    Keepin it tight!

    Starting to finish weld.

    Getting a tan.

    Smoooooth.

    Bung!

Tacking on the annoying axle section.

    So hot she's smokin!

Little bit of tip to get it past the bumper.

I knew a dog named sparky at one time.

    W00t!

Post paint. The final product. Hope there's no overspray!

Alright, on to the pimping of the system. Yes, still the stock downpipe, so there's a cat, a resonator, and a muffler. Very quiet, actually surprisingly so. No drone in the car, and of course no rattles. I went and painted everything black just because I really like black. And also less attention is good too. It is a full 3" system with a 3.25" muffler.
If you want your own I'm supposed to say that they can be had between 300 and 600 dollars, depending on the steel and mufflers used. They can be had in anything from alumminized tubing (lower end of the tubing spectrum) to 409 stainless. This was kind of a rushed job, my old POS was being held on with a vise-grip. No, Chuck didn't weld that one. haha

    Anyway. Any questions please ask.

His exhaust is actually 409 stainless steel so its made from regular exhaust grade tube.I will be setting up the fixtures to mass produce a exhaust for the subarus just because of the price of whats available out there. On the production ones I will use 304 stainless and have a little better bend layout with bends ordered to match the exhaust instead of using the 180deg bends I used on Elis car.Basically instead of using one 180 and a half of a 180 I would get two 45s and a 90.I will also be using magnaflow mufflers and resonators.

good choice... pretty much what I used and style for my exhausts I was building.. although my welds were nothing like that....

is that muffler a magnaflow as it looks like a flowmaster or a knock off version

hey what'd you use for the hangers??? do you have a connection for them that'll fit the subaru rubber hangers?? I usually use the old ones of the stock exhaust but am looking into getting some machined up that'll be the right guage...

Eli has one of the $25 thrush chambered units. They are cheap and they do the trick. There are also some other cheaper mufflers that do well but they use packing in them and the sound degrades after time.

*How much will your exhausts go for Chuck and when do you plan on having these for the mass market?

    great work chuck

exhaust looks hot eli - I may have to hit chuck up later to get rid of my fartcan. the can and the axle back on my jic are both on slip fittings so hopefully i won't need a full exhaust made

Definitely. Axle-back is quite a bit less time consuming to make. It uses most of the bends tho, if you're using a full-case muffler. You have to put those flat or they look goofy as hell. The fart-cans you can get away with being all JDM slanty, y0.
