So i am going to narrow down the problem with my lean bank one cel. I am in need of a working 02 sensor. Does anyone have a working o2 sensor that i could borrow for a few hours? You would help me a lot by letting me use your spare one. I really dont want to through 200$ at my car and not being sure that its the problem.
Have you tried all the cheap fixes? And tomorrow isn't going to be very warm...You may want to put it off a couple days I had a lean condition recently. I took my Intake system apart from the filter to the throttlebody. I cleaned the maf, looked for any leaks, loose clamps, etc. Then I put it all back together, ran a bottle of good injector cleaner through it, my CEL hasn't been back since...although now I have a fuel cap CEL. :-/
I can lend you an 02 sensor tomorrow if you want to drive down to Hastings for it. I'd let you use my garage, but my car isn't running and it's taking up all the space. PM me if you want it.
ok,a little update. After $180 spent on a new o2 sensor I still have a cel. Sooo, now I know that my old o2 sensor was fine and there is a problem somewhere else. So let the guessing game begin. Btw, my old mildly used o2 sensor is for sale.
will do. I used enginuity and have it on my lap top but I am not familiar with logging just the fuel trims. I only know how to log KC, iam,and boost. What boxes should I check to log fuel trims? Thanks for the help.

Normal numbers would be +/- 3% I'm going to guess that yours are all over the place. Make sure to get a long log of just normal everyday driving. You should also log engine load (RAM), engine speed, and throttle position as well. I'm almost certain that you have a post-maf leak somewhere.
You would doublecheck all of the fittings and joints and tighten all clamps for starters. If you still can't find anything, you can build some sort of pressure tester out of pvc pipe -- there's all sorts of documentation on nasioc on how to do this. Spend a lot of time checking over your turbo inlet pipe.
I kinda think it could be the inlet pipe. It looks all crooked and offset. I have been reading every single thread on there. I will for sure try all of this later tonight. How about soapy water on the hoses, does that work at all?
No, the soapy water trick won't work since this is a vacuum leak. Also make sure that every hose going into the inlet pipe is hooked up to something else.
if you are carefull about it you could spray water or preferably a carb cleaner on potential vacuum leak areas when the car is running and listen for a RPM difference. Obviously if you use a flamible liquid you need to be carefull not to start a fire. The liquid will act in one of 2 ways, if the leak is small the liquid will slow the flow, if the leak is large your engine will ingest the liquid either way you should experience a RPM change if you encounter a leak.
Just use gasoline, hopefully your engine catches on fire, dies, and you get new car without these problems +1
Update: Ok, so i did go for a little drive after work. I logged as the wall of tvs said. And at first it all looked fine with no problems a/f learning stayed at 14.86 and moved just a little bit to like 14.53 and a bit to 13.98. But as soon as i got on a high way and shifted to the 5th it all went down hill from there. The minimum value went down to 0(zero). i kept logging it and when i got home and looked at the log, i found two spots in the log where the value goes from 14.84 to 11.50 to 7.58 to 3.60 to 1.9 to 0 and then back up to 14.84 after a while the same things with pretty much same pattern happens again. However, after i got back from logging i looked at all the houses. And guess what? the big house that plugs right into the intercooler on the left side was almost all the way off the nipple it goes on. I could see the inside of the pipe that it plugs into. I am sure it was not helping my situation, but how the hell i did not notice it earlier and why the car run fine with that thing all the way off. I will reset the ecu before class tomorrow and do another log on the way to school. See what happens, i really hope that this what the problem. *fingers crossed*
Well you want +/- 5% and you are at 15%. That number is also for each load site, so as you change speeds and your rpm changes, that number will change on a per rpm site. So evry 500 rpm or so, you will change load sites and that number will change with it. And you should probably fix your car instead of looking at houses. That is not really helping your problem. Russ
ok, I just logged it again. And it looked quite differnt. The numbers were all over the place going anywhere from 0 to 14.84 at 3k and 60mph. The cel did not come up but I am thinking it will on my way back home. So what does this log tell me? What is the problem here? Professional help will be apreciated.
Just had a thought could this be my fuel pump that is causing the problem? I did take it out at one point. Is there a way ti check?
I don't know, didn't you have this problem BEFORE the fuel pump? I remember you kept getting CEL's before the fuel pump. I think it's the driver, many will agree
I cant even remember when i started getting cels. I think got a first one after i put that axle back and the gp moto elbow. I just wish i could start from a scratch, fix all the potential problems and get a fresh tune. Why is this happing? And btw Nuke why all your comments are directed towards me doing something wrong? And please dont tell me you are joking cause its not funny.

Update BIG UPDATE: OK, so i decided to look at my inlet hose and guess what? Yep, it was more than half way off the turbo and riped in two places. I battled with it for an hour and a half to get it back on the turbo, but ****ty rubber that it is made of stated to crumple and it cracked all over the place. So now i am in need of an inlet hose. But i think i might have found the cause of my cel.

You should probably have your tune touched up a bit after getting it installed -- who knows how bad your leak was during your tune and how much compensation was needed.....
Its not changing your MAF housing so you shouldn't have to need a tune. You can obviously log your af correction and af learning. Between those 2 you'll know if you need a tune. I would say no.
yeah, i agree with wall of tvs i had my car tuned during a massive leak so probably will need a touch up at least. But now i need a new hose! how bad will it be driving if a cracked hose like that. I turned the car on and it still reads lots of vacuum and idles normally.
Yeah, but he had a massive post-maf/pre-turbo leak. If the car was tuned with this leak in place (probably not the case), his car would end up on the rich side after fixing the problem. I'm going to guess that his tune will be ok after fixing the problem, but better safe than sorry.
Stay out of boost and you'll be ok. As seen from your "logs", the car has been adding fuel (15+%) in closed loop to compensate for all of the un-metered air coming in.
Ok, is i got the inlet back on the turbo yesterday night and drove the car to work today. The car feels way different the turbo whine i used to get all the time is completely gone. I was not planning on getting the car into boost at all the whole time i drove but when i got on a hwy just a little tap on the gas got the car right into boost. I can tell that the car runs really rich, on the hwy i was getting like 1100F of egt. So i will for sure need a tune.
Update The cel went away on its own today and have not comeback at all yet:biggrin:. I logged A/f learning again and the highest it went to was 3.5% at a cruse on the hwy it was mostly around 1.53% or so.
