I spent last night doing some gauge surgery to my car after getting a JDM V3 RA cluster for my car.

The wiring didnt work at all, the plug for the tach was completely different, the fuel gauge and the temp gauge are switched which would require extending both left and right harnesses and rewiring one to the other, and it came with an interesting array of lights like "ABS" and "Water Spray" that i had no use for.

First i dassasembled both pods and with some work was able to remove the DCCD readout thingy and put it in the L gauges (did not remove the DCCD controller, i can resell that =])

Then I removed the tach from the JDM set and replaced the L tach with it. Since the JDM gauges are switched right to left the cutout was sized to go in the same spot my speedo was in. I managed to make it fit, but some dremeling is in the future to perfect it as its slightly bumpy there.

Because everythin is opposite for some reason in japan land my high beam indicator is now my e brake light and my ebrake light is now my high beam indicator. I didnt switch the LED covers so the light emblem is red and the brake emblem is blue. I'll do that when i bust out the dremel to finish the whole thing off
    here is teh final result:

cool. you and your 8k redline.

interesting stuff with teh gauge swap. i would have figured that the ebrake and highbeams would have ben the same location. atleast you could switch the bulbs so you brake light is red and you high beams are blue lol.

i see you go the center diff diff read out on the dash, thts cool. oohh yah just an idea. you could plug ou gas in to the same spot it used to be and see if that gauge will read it.

It's still the same old speedo that was in the car in the first place, works fine.

I tested the tach w/ my ECU readout and that's reading ok too.

$10 says that red light is going to drive you nuts.....

    nice job man..
you should wire the dccd tree to a knock link... or even a shift indicator.

I was going to wire the DCCD readout ot a shift indicator, but my ECU only has one out, and that's driving the tachometer, and i didnt have anything else on hand.

oh, and I suck at wiring too. And the stock cluster doesnt have any room under there for adding lights etc. If i can figure out a way to reroute my J&S safeguard Knock LED's under there i would, but i dont want to dissasemble it with my noob like wiring abilities.

The red light isnt so bad, its only on when the parking brake is on, and the blue parking brake indicator is only on when the hi beams are on, which is almost never since i live in the city.
