went out tonight and caught a nice bass
I lost 4 northerns, let a small one shake off at the boat and landed one in the 24" range. and then i caught the same bass again lol (i think - it was under the same little bridge and was the same size)

FTW Carl! Thats a nice one, about 5 lbs? What lake were you at by chance, and nice, using a canoe for uber stealth mode.

eh, probably more like 3-4lbs. I'm on my secret lake - it has no public launch which is why i use a canoe (i don't really tell people where it is since it's a really fragile fishery - even a little pressure seems to mess it up. plus run-off has killed the water quality in the past few years). once muskie season starts i'll be back out in the lund more

Thats cool, understandable. What is the max depth of that lake, or a close estimate?

edit - most of it is very shallow - 10 ft and under. a few deep holes and channels. very eutrophic

Mille Lacs was SLOOOOOWWWWWW. We fished Saturday from 9a-4p and Sunday from 9a-10p and Monday from 10a-12a. We only got 2 Eyes - 17 3/8" and 17 5/8" - Two nice keepers. We were ALL over the lake, literally and tried EVERYTHING! We got the two by trolling stick baits in about 6' of water.

I also got this nice 19 1/4" (5.5 lbs) Small Mouth on Monday morning. It's my biggest Smallie to date.

He had to weigh it first, but yes, released. Little guy @ 9.5lbs.

He put the stringer on to keep him in the water, while we were looking for the scale.

    WHADDA WE GOT!!?!?!?

What's working this summer boys & girls?

I've had REALLY GREAT luck with small rattling-jointed shads (LIKE THESE) and the "Natural Perch" color has been the best. I've lost two of them on BIG Pike.

I haven't had much luck with plastics this year, but have pounded sone nice Bass casting white spinner baits.

I just just got my boat "working" again, and I can't WAIT to hit the damn water again! One of my control cables rusted up and I couldn't select the gear from the steering counsel so I just replaced them both. Now, I jsut have to get the carb settings right and I should be good.

NICE CRAPpie!!! That has to be pusing 2lbs.

No, that's not me in the pic, it's my league partner Sparky. We didn't win the tournament, either!!! Someone pulled a 50" Muskie last night too. We've seen a lot of big pike and muskies there when trolling around. Last night was the first one that we've pulled out of there.

It's a 3 Rivers park, so you have to pay for trailer parking, but I think it's $5.00 a day or something. There are a lot of Walleye in that lake too.

depends on what you're going for.
The walleye are in the weeds a lot of the time.
the big 50" was caught outside of the weedline on a shad-rap.
We caught bass on white spinners.

Throw the biggest stuff you got.
    Big Rapalas, plastics or bucktails.
I don't fish that lake enough to know about an "average size" bass. We cought 4-5 that were under 12", and one that was 16" or 17".

    Delicious Bass

Here's the largest of 5 Largemouth I caught over the 4th of July weekend at the cabin. He came in at 19"/4+lbs. Put up a hell of a fight. Caught them all on a good ol Hula Popper(yellow).

    personal best

    Great looking catches all.

A few weeks later and i've broken my own record(from above). Caught this 21" 6lb largemouth this past weekend. The sunset photo was taken a few minutes before I caught this guy and it shows the lilies that I pulled him out of in the lower right. He put up a great fight, jumped clean out twice and of course got all tangled up in the lilies but managed to get him landed.

and yes I know the horizon is not level, still gotta fix that in the original photo
