ok time to actually hook up my fog ligts, anyone have a wiring schematic or tell me what wires on the switch go where.

this is for a 98 L , but i would assume its the same for all in this chassis rs or L

Do you want to hook them up to the stock harness and use the stock switch?

I'm about to install some stock fog lights on my '00 OBS, but I'm planning to use my own relay and switch to run them and not tie into the stock harness.

I can take notes on what I do to wire mine up.

    ok found this anyone confirm?
looking from the back of the switch:

    1 3
    --4
    --5
    2 6

#1- ground for the ON bulb.
#2- ground for the illumination bulb (this ground actually varies depending on the brightness of your dash)
#3- +12 volts when key is on ACC (powers both ON light and relay)
#4- +12 volts for illumination bulb when dash is illuminated
    #5- out to relay
#6- same as above (can be used for another relay)

I had found a nice diagram on nasioc last night, but I don't have the link right now. Basically, find a switched 12v source and run it through a switch on your dash down to a relay, the relay will pull power and ground from the battery and power the lights. Very similar to installing hella horns.

On my 00L...I just ran a hot with an inline 15A fuse to the factory switch and ran the wire(s) from the fogs to the switch as well. It was a little trial and error to find the right wires at the switch, but it works perfect and I can run them anytime with or without high/low beams.

I rigged up the stock switch to run a relay,
I just pulled the stock switch and used my mulit meter probe to fine what wire is switched form the stock switch, and then t'ed in to it and ran my own wire out to the relay

    it works great

I just got my fog lights wired up tonight. It was pretty easy once I got it figured out.

Behind the driver's side headlight is a small white plug. The black wire is just ground, the white/black wire comes from the fog relay under the dash.

Under the dash next to the left of the fuse panel there is a pink plug with four sockets that take the relay. I found a "replacement relay" 12v, 30a, at pep boys for $5 that fit that plug perfectly except, the wires were different. So I had to pop the wires out of the pink connector with a small flat-blade screwdriver and rearrange them to fit the relay. You'll have to read the diagram on the relay to see which is which. In the pink connector, white/black goes out to the fogs, black white is a switched ground that comes from the switch on the dash. blue/white is hot when the lights are on, red is always hot. You could just wire up any relay without the pink connector too. The relay I bought from pep boys had the same pinout and pin numbers as the Hella horn relay, so that made it really easy to figure out.

So, the connector for the fog switch, black/white goes to the relay, it needs to be switched to ground. I didn't use the subaru fog switch, I just wired in a simple toggle switch. There are two yellow/blue wires in the plug, one of them is always ground, the other is always ground except when the high beams are on, use a multimeter to test which is which. Then I just hooked black/white and yellow/blue to the toggle switch.

Then, I just ran short ground wires from each fog to the chassis. And ran a hot wire to each fog from the white/black wire from the connector behind the headlight. Works great. I can use fogs with low or high beam, but the headlights do have to be one. If you want to run the fog lights anytime, you'll need to run a different hot wire to the relay instead of the blue/white wire that is there.

I hope that helps a bit. I'm sorry I didn't take any pictures as I was working on it.

Yeah, one relay will run both lights. I used a 30 amp relay, the factory circuit is a 15amp fuse, so a 30 amp relay can easily handle it.
