Went sturgeon fishing again today. We went on opening day and I got 3 suckers, Rich got nothing and Richs dad got 1 sucker. Today we had much more luck..more suckers, a walley, and 3 sturgeon Rich caught one that measured 50.25 inches, Richs dad caught one that measured 46 inches and I caught a piddly little one that we didn't even measure. At least I can say I caught one though We were surprised how well the Forester pulled the boat too. It handles extremely well still and had no problems pulling.
noice.... My Foz, pulled a 6x12 trailer with 2 fridges and a 500 pound toolbox (empty weight) filled with tools... ha ha
Tell us how was the battle with the 50" Sturgeon? Sweet and is this the lake at home? Did you guys end up cooking any of these?
Very nice, Rich! I'm going to order my hitch in 10 days when the comission check gets here for last month. Then I can haul my little dingie around.
any time, I will be off all summer. We threw back the 50.2" sturgeon but kept the 46" one, my Dad is going to smoke that one tomorrow. It took a good 25 minuites to pull him in with a muskie rod and 40lb test line. we guessed the weight of atleast 45lbs
What do they taste like, comparatively? I was told they aren't the best fish for eating? btw, nice fish. I posted pics of my 49" in the open water fishing thread. Hooking into one is an awesome ride.
We were up on Rainy River catching these. I've yet to taste sturgeon but Rich said they have a firm meat that tastes like ham when they are smoked.
I can believe, thats making my mouth water. LOL Hey Rich that sturgeon looks almost as big as you bro. LOL It would probably drawf me thats for sure. My brother inlaw decided he was going to get a sturgeon for a pet, and when I told him the fish could out live him he decided it wasn't worth it. LOL And the Blue Forester looks right at home!
