Hey mnsubaru! I have been posting for a little while but realized I never introduced myself. My name is Nathan and I have met some of you at a couple of the Tuesday meets and I just want to say everyone I have met from here so far has been awesome! I just moved back to MN about a year ago (from living in Atlanta for 7 years) and I didn't realize how much I missed the great white north. I have an 07 wrx that I bought literally the week after graduating college when I got job Dec of 2010. I didn't modify it the whole time I lived down south for whatever reason but since I moved back up here I went stage 2 for about 3 months and by then I had caught the bug and decided to go up to the 20G that I have had for the last couple months! I love the power but have been really paranoid about my trans taking a crap on me so I have been too scared to drive in any if the events this summer. Well, last week I decided I was tired of being cautious so I bought an (almost) full STI drivetrain swap minus the hubs/brembos and I couldn't be more excited! Hopefully will be installed soon and I am really looking forward to the proposed NF winter driving event! I hope to meet more of you and make some more subie friends because most people I know just don't understand my obsession.
Nate: "Hi, my name is Nate and i'm addicted to going fast, large snails, and hard corners." .... Mnsubaru support group: "Hi Nate!" Lol, welcome!!!
Haha exactly! If it weren't for my dad always egging me on I might start thinking I need an intervention. I just make sure to choose my words carefully when explaining to the ol' ball and chain why I "need" to do a certain thing to my car and so far she plays along. I am happy to have found a support group like mnsubaru though. I used to lurk on Nasioc a lot but it is a fustercluck the majority of the time. This place is much more welcoming, sensible, and helpful and it is now my go-to place for my subie fix. It is just amazing to me that when I bought the car 3 years ago I had absolutely no intention of modifying it...and here I am now!
Lol. I went 4 years with my bugeye bone stock and always asked people why they would "mod" them as i thought that it was plenty fast 'out of the box'. I still have never been bitten by the mod bug. I have modified it, just not a big power guy. More of a reliability type of person. And 260whp and 300tq is a pretty fair amount of juice to 4 wheels!
