Hello Everyone, I live in a small town called Oakdale. I've been in and out of this forum inspired to get my first subaru. Been a dream ride for a long time. Still haven't purchased the right one yet but the research is in full on! Plans are just to get a wagon for now so I can get the feel of a working around the scoobs before handling the larger STI. Hope something good comes along soon. I'll be shooting a lot of noobie questions so bare with me. Thanks and hope to be meeting people as well. Side note... Inspired by the black wagon (not mentioning any names w/out permission) since he first purchased it many many years ago. It was a joy to take a ride. Yup, those good old days when he still rode his bike with a helmet.
^^^I've also heard of WRX being more aggressive that they could be pushed for more HP vs the STI? true?
I would say no, they both have their weak points. Someone can peep in with their thoughts but each fully built displacement will win
I think that philosophy comes down to money. The STI has better parts, and is more ideal to build, track and hoon in. However, the extra 10K (or more) price tag draws a lot of people to the WRX when buying new. The common thought is that you save the money on the sticker price and put that towards building a WRX. Although there is truth to this way of thinking, you start to see the limits of the stock WRX parts when you get into building it. If I could have a do over, I would have picked up an STI in the first place. However, my goals may be different than yours... and that is a very important factor.
I mostly like to street race in school zones, simply because they show your trap speed on the digital display.
I feel that in the end, its gonna be swapping parts from the STI into the WRX anyways. I get where your coming from.
Aha I promise I won't be one of them. I guess I'm not the best yet but i could get my way around cars.
That's how we settled it in high school, **** meeting at the flag pole it was always line up 1/4 mile from the displayed speed sign. Cuz we lived our lives a school quarter at a time...pretty much the opening race scene in Tokyo drift.....don't get too jelly now guys
Depends on the parts and year of the car. A lot of aftermarket stuff is better than the stock STI parts. When the time comes, feel free to ask. Lots of people have done different things and can share advice and experiences.
Hey I never mentioned his name?? aha True that Yeah searching through the forum, I've seen a lot of different styles. I've also been getting a lot of help with my best bud called 'GOOGLE' aha
I guess I shouldn't start a new thread so I'll just add it here. I am now a new owner of my completly stock "new to me" '98 OBS included with WRX front seats. I purchased it from a member on this forum. Since I've owned it, I replaced my OEM mud guards with some UR Rally Armor mud flaps. As my first scooby, I've been amazed by how it handles to in the snow, powers from the AWD (previously a FWD owner), and the absolute plessure of owning a SUBARU!! I will be on here frequently to ask questions, look for up-grading parts, and looking to meet members. I will post up pictures as soon as I can. I am very excited!
Yeah, I've been spotting a lot members rides out there and don't want to be "driving and snapping" with my phone! LOL Im always on here now to search for who I just seen. So, you can call it me "hooked!" ahahaha
Well, it's official!! I now own my very first WRX wagon!! Thanks to Drew and Dan for being patient with me. It is a great car and also great people to work with! Coming from my '98 Impreza OBS with a 2.2L to a 2.0L turbo...OH WHAT A DIFFRENCE! MAde a diffrence in driving condition, handling, and not to mention the amount of HP and torque. As much as I love both wagons having that they are great in their own ways. Sadly, I don't have enough space for two but more about that later. Now about the car: I purchased the PSM WRX wagon from dhanso312. Since she was brought home, I've swapped out the old mud flaps to some brand new UR RallyArmor mud flaps, swapped out the yellow rims with the 17x8 MB weapons that I have sitting around. Plans for the future: -TUNE(since the stage 2 upgrade) -22" Perrin RSB and endlinks -UL header and up pipe -Cobb Access Port -oil & AFR guages -Larger turbo (maybe the VF39?) -FMIC -injectors -fuel pump -"fingers crossed" for E85 I guess I should mention that I am just Daily Drive my WRX (maybe autoX once or twice?) to school, work, and just looking to get alittle HP but with things running like it should. Also that fuel efficiency is a ++ and a MUST!! Pictures to come soon. It's still the same as pictured in the for sale thread. Let me know what you guys think? As I am new to the turbo engine and will be needing pointers does/dont, brands, and best for it's price.
Thanks! I'm really excited for to have my WRX! Just diving into my first Subaru in December of 2012 and been enjoying every moment of it!!
