Found my STI

Well everyone, I finally parted with my 03 mazdaspeed protege and purchased a 2004 subaru wrx sti. The turbo in the msp went bad in December and being that the differential went in July, I decided it was time to get rid of it. Some of you may know the sti I purchased as it was the blue one posted on car soup. After some serious research on the car, I made a deal and took it home. Hesitant at first due to the "10hp each" stickers on the side of the car, she came through as a good buy! Car has 3" turboback exhaust, upgraded wastegate, redtop battery, turboxs bov, cai, plug and play computer, and a few other goodies. The car came originally from IL. Supposedly the guy decided to trade it in for a Porsche. So far so good! I requent uni, rockfalls, bir, etc during the warmer months so I look forward to meeting some of you!

i think you'll have to have one of use look at it. how can you have a "upgraded wastegate" when its built into the stock turbo? also the "plug and play computer" sounds fishy

 

are you vunley longs brothers girlfriend?

 

Get rid of these three things.

 

i'm assuming he means upgraded wastegate acuator. pnp computer probably just means the AP or something.

I recently picked up an 05' STi...and I am enjoying it so far... sounds like you got a nice find as well. Enjoy. I am new here and don't know anyone really. Sorry I didn't make it to firestone last night, I just got way too tired by the time the snow really picked up.

ahh yes i remember seeing your car at his house every once in a while. it looked to be a pretty sweet ride. but im sure you will love your sti more. i know i love mine. and you better be sure your car is always faster then your bf's evo!

Like I said, I am not very familiar with Subaru's, I am definately a newbee. I am taking the car to LSE this week to have Josh tune it. The CAI I have heard does not do well for the Subie's and I may end up taking it out. The computer is stock, supposedly from "what i was told" it has a port to plug into it in the glove box to tune with.... And yes, I hate stickers. Especially when they say "Kuhmo" tires and it has Nittos on it. LOL. When it warms up out, they will be coming off.

 

LOL I'm working on it. And now that you mention it, I remember seeing your car parked out from a few nights.

 

i think as long as you have it tuned for a cai your ok, but i wouldnt expect any huge power increases with it, i would probalby be more worried about the bov then the cai.

You are correct, Friday at Firestone off of University Ave. I think there's directions on the Firestone meet main thread.

The wastegate is a Tial 44mm external wastegate and the computer is stock with the cobb accessport.... got a chance to go digging today
