FS EJ 257 shortblock

    For sale is a low mile 257 block that had a rod bearing failure. I completely tore the block apart removed all the plugs and tanked the block. I reassembled the cases with the stock pistons, new bearings, crank, rods gaskets and seals. The intention was to have it on hand if I had a car with a bad block. Times are changing and now it's for sale.

    Oh damn good deal!
    My engine is about to go under the knife and if there is anything more than the blown HG that I think I have, I might just buy this if its still around...
    sti rods and pistons right?

    All stock components except the ACL mains and rod bearings.

    Curiuos as to why you used stock pistons considering they are a weak point?

    Because I didn't want to put another 700 into the block. As I said in the initial post it has been sitting on the shelf as a spare in case I found a car for sale that needed a block.

    Good deal, but I do think most people will want upgraded pistons, esp on a EJ257. Regardless, wouldn't it be fairly "easy" for the next owner to swap out the OEM pistons for their perferred aftermarket pistons?

    Also, was the old block torque plate bored before reassembly?

    I'm not an interested buyer, just trying to help others!

    I guess I don't think you have read the post or your post for that matter? This block has stock pistons as it was a low mile motor and I didn't want to put a bunch of money into it since I was going to use it to swap into a car that had a bad bearing for a quick resale. You would need to break down the block to have it machined to fit forged pistons if that is what you want. Why would I use a torque plate when I have not replaced the pistons?

    I literally bought a brand new block and had Matt build it with brand new stock pistons. There really isn't anything wrong with it if you aren't going all cray cray with the HP.

    I'm not sure where you are going with this Jordan. Lol.

    This is a great deal for someone with a stock damaged block, looking to replace said stock damaged block!

    GLWS Matt. Wish that i could throw it on a shelf at my place for a rainy day! And btw, i'm currently at 70k on the stock block that you built for me, and that's after it was in the flood. :)
