    Interested.

The connector on the cord itself? Or on the unit?

    Also, which version is it?

    Just uses basic phone cord.

Can be updated to newest version for $30.

Wondering if it's the connector on the unit that's busted. Sounds like the cord.

I think price of upgrades depends on the unit (hardware and/or software upgrade). At least it did when I had my old one upgraded years ago.

Even if you buy it used from someone? I was under the impression you could only get the upgrades if you had proof of purchase from Valentine directly?

EDIT: answered my own question: seems upgrades on used units are no problem as long as the serial number is in tact. helpful thread: http://www.radardetector.net/forums...ying-used-valentine-1-what-you-need-know.html

Also, kinda interested - we definitely need another detector - but no 300 bones. :(

    SubieDave: What version is yours?

The broken piece is on the cord itself, not the unit. Like Ben said, it's just a phone cord.

The number and bar code is still intact on the unit. It's the latest version 1.8.
I copied and pasted this directly from www.valentine1.com

Status Report on Your Valentine One
    Serial Number 5760280606

V1 Description: Radar circuitry known in-house as V1.8. This is our latest and best performer on both radar and laser with just one exception—it lacks POP Protection. Of interest to those who drive in Europe, the latest V1 version also has a Euro Mode.

Upgrade Recommendation: You have a sophisticated security system, and we’re cautious about recommending an Upgrade. If you believe in keeping up with technology, particularly if the POP Mode is being used in your area, then go ahead. V1’s approach to the POP problem is superior to all others in the industry. If you drive in Europe, you will appreciate our new Euro Mode which improves protection on photo radar as it is used in the E.U.

Clue me in as to where. It is $139 with a older v1.8 unit to get the latest version from Valentine.

I'm not sure I'm picking up what you are throwing down. Subytek commented that for $30 a Valentine 1 could be upgraded to the latest version. The Valentine website has quoted me $139 for mine. If this sale was still going on my math has it $300 + $139 > $399 for a new one.

It all depends how far out of date you are. They should explain that on the V1 website somewhere..

That would be because it's missing a feature found in newer units, it's not just fixing existing stuff. If you don't want POP, don't upgrade. If you do then I'd for sure consider that in the price.
