Got together with some friends this weekend and went out off roading. Sadly I wasn’t there the whole time but here are some pictures from before and after. All in all, there were several vehicles there. 1980’s Jeep Wrangler, lifted 35” BFG A-Ts 1986 Subaru GL wagon stock 1995 Subaru Impreza LX, lowered all season tires 1988 Subaru GL-10 Hatch, 4” lift 29” Super Swampers 1990’s Jeep Cherokee stock 2001 Jeep Wrangler, 3” lift 33” mud terrains. It was a fun time. Followed some trails through the woods. The Impreza kept up pretty good, did pretty much everything the other cars did except for the deep water/mud and the real difficult articulation. The GL Hatch won the day. The two lifted jeeps got stuck in the deep mud and were pulled out by the Hatch. The hatch showed them both up by going through the same section forwards and in reverse w/o a problem. Here are a few pics: The hatch being unloaded (unbalanced tires = not good for road driving) The wagon had some issues with ground clearance Pretty good flex for a stock wagon that’s 20 years old Making our way through the trails (photo taken from inside the hatch) Impreza doesn’t quite have the approach angle to make it though perfectly A few pics of the hatch from the next day
Martin.....careful posting pics like that online. walking a fine line there. these aren't too detailed, but the ones Brad took later would be very bad. anyway, I didn't have to hit the bumper very hard....it was pretty well destroyed already. and both bumpers will be replaced before long. then the hill-holder cable meandered it's way over to the + battery terminal......and yea, now the battery is a puddle of molten plastic/acid. btw, Nate's Jeep is a '92, Levi's is about a '95, and Jeff's Hatch is just a GL. GL-10s were only EA82s.
Yeah I thought about that before I posted these. I am still kinda surprised that the zip ties didnt break and the actual bumper did.
Looks like fun guys! Any chance any of you need/want a couple used but plenty of life left 33x12.50/15 tires nothing special, futura dakota rvt? I just took em off my truck and only saved em in case someone else could use them. I also have some 33x10.50 BFG all terains that are worn a bit funny(balance and alignment issues) but they have a bunch of tread left on them.
I might be interested in the tires. I will need some for the brat before i can get it out there. any pics of the tires?
Haven't seen my camera in three years and I don't work computers too well anyway I can send some with my phone if ya want to gimme an email address.
Let me know the next time you go if anyone has an extra spot in their vehicle! I haven't done that since I was in high school & would love to come with!!
you won't fit 33s on your car with the stuff you're making. you'd need at least double the lift (and that wouldn't allow room for travel). I may be interested in one of the nothing specials. I'll be running 35x12.5x15s on my 4Runner before long, and would like a good sized spare, but a 35 won't fit in the back with the topper on.
you'll need more than a sawzall to fit 33s on a brat with only 4". only rigs I know of running 33s with room to travel are running 10"+ of lift and a divorced tcase, (and all but one have at least one solid axle).
