I finally got everything I need to run the garrett in the Leggy, but it wasn't easy. I wanted to eliminate the banjos on the oil feed. Sounds simple enough. The only thing is Subaru uses a wierd thread for the oil feed from the head. Its a M12x1.25, WTF? At first I thought I was SOL so I was gonna use a weld-on -4 fitting with a bolt that I hollowed out. A week later I found an adapter to make things a bit simpler. Jay at Northern Engine & Supply hooked up a braided stainless teflon line, hose ends, and a couple angled couplers. For the turbo side, I bit the bullet and got the restrictor fitting. Without it, the seals wouldn't last very long. Then I needed an oil drain. I could care less if its 7075 T6 aluminum, as its a little overkill (7075 T6 is twice as strong as 6061). But alas, my options were limited, so $20 later and a trip to the hardware store I've got the drain figured out. Initially I thought I could use a Silvia dump pipe to build the exhaust off of. Nope. The turbo sits upside down relative to how it sits in a subie. So $95 later(ouch), I've got this beautiful T25 to 3" V-band adapter. That should make things easier. Coolant wasn't much better. Garrett decided on M14x1.5 threads. Not gonna work with factory subaru banjos. www.anplumbing.com saved the day with fairly reasonable adapters that go to a -8 fitting. Basic -8 hose ends were only about $6 apiece. ATP Turbo wants $15 for a banjo fitting with the bolt and washers. I think not. pics Otherwise I've been putzing with little things. I drilled and tapped the coolant bridge for my temp gauge. Did the same on the exhaust manifold for the EGT sensor.
waht turbo it that and why did you not go with a e/wastgate? it would of been alittle easyer on you on the exhouust side of things.
Its a GT3071R. I had actually ordered a GT2871R, but this is what showed up at my door. Like I said above, my original plan was to use a Silvia dump pipe, which would have kept it real simple. Eventually I'll weld the flapper shut and use an external gate, but I'm trying to keep my fab to a minimum right now. That and all the little stuff is adding up in a real hurry, so a wastegate isn't in the budget at the moment.
I gotta be different, I guess  Sometimes I wish I would have ordered something bolt-in from Deadbolt, but that would be too easy, wouldn't it?
wrong! i just think if you sit and talk about how you want to race people you shouldent get a 20g? a 20g to me is a really tight course auto cross turbo., not a drag car turbo.
