This morning, when I started up my car and letting it sit for 20 minutes, I saw a small puddle under my car. I believe it was gas because my gas gauge was a bit lower than when I parked the car. Also, I get a faint smell of gas on startups when its really cold. I'm assuming its due to my lines contracting when its cold and expanding when it warms up.

If/when I replace the gas lines, what are the best ones to use? How much does it cost? Would it be best to go to the dealership to have this done?

Thanks in advance for any help :)

check to see if any one of your injectors is leaking.

Maybe O-rings the seal them are contracting.

How many miles are on the car? What IS IT?

there is a TSB on leaky rails underneath the intake manifold on wrxs, but i doubt it was leaving a puddle! did you smell the puddle? it was probably moisture from your exhaust (yes even the most sealed exhausts have leaks!)

I replaced my fuel rails with perrin fuel rails. I no longer have the "cold gas smell" ;)

I have the same problem with my car. I am taking my intake off this week to install the new turbo so I figure I will replace the hoses and clamps then.

Did it smell really strong in the cab of the car? Is it an 02? I had to have a new fuel line put in mine a few years back because of a factory defect. That is what the dealer told me anyway and it was fixed for free. The smell in the cab of the car was unbearable!!

Thanks guys for all the input :)

First off, my car is a 2003 WRX with 45,000 miles on it.

The smell does get somewhat strong, but its only for 10 minutes and on really cold days (like yesterday and today). I don't think I noticed a puddle under my car. I sat in a parking lot for 20 minutes waiting for my gf to get off of work (her car didn't start in the morning, but it's fine now) and when I left, I saw no puddle at all.

I guess its possible that I do leak gas when I'm driving, though. My gas mileage has been pretty bad. I get maybe 250 miles for a full tank, but a lot of that is city driving.

So I take it that it could be the fuel rails then?
