Gasket name

    i was hoping someone here could be so kind to tell me what the gasket circled in red, in the picture is called...

    I believe it is called the oil separator cover gasket. It goes under the black plastic cover with the hose going to it on top of the valve cover.

    Breather plate, or breather cover gaskets. Should be 2, one for each valve cover breather plate.

    It is Not the separator cover/plate. The separator plate is on the back side of the block, behind the flywheel. It uses liquid gasket.

    It is the breather cover gasket, but if you actually look at the description Subaru uses it says oil separator cover gasket. The don't call it a breather cover. The separator plate is on the back of the block and is what everyone else refers to as the separator cover/plate.

    I just pulled up my Parts catalog and guess what, we're both right. Well, sort of.

    Per the catalog they both share the name, cover, oil separator. That seems downright stupid but I guess. I have never even looked at the schematic for the valve covers as it's always been a given that the plates on the valve covers are breather plates.

    While technically they are oil separator plates, you will never pull the right part up on google using that name.

    Steve should have a capital "S"...but I too think he looks like a Steve.
