Ok I told my friend not to take his gauges out and mess with the needles because they wont work right again. Well he did it and now they dont work like I told him they wouldnt. And now he wants to know how to fix it. His car is a 2003 WRX and what he did was he took the gas, MPH, RPM, and temp needles off because he was trying to change the color of the bulbs behind the gauges so it would look like an sti.
maybe, the search would work, if the word was not spelled wrong! *adds "gauge" to her List of Commonly Mis-spelled USEFUL Words from MNSubaru* I'm not saying you should search for it here, alex, i'm just saying ... i think i figured out one of the answers to life, the universe, and everything
^^^Google has an answer to all questions worth asking. Like, "What is the purpose of life?", or "Where did we come from?" or "How do i fix my car's gauges?"
WHY didnt he just pull the cluster? arent the bulbs behind the cluster???? sounds like "your friend" is borderline retarded.
D&D Speedometer should be able to make all his troubles go away, they do good work. http://www.ddspeedometer.com/index.html D&D Speedometer 2525 Winter Street NE Minneapolis, MN 55413 Toll-Free: (800) 766-4243 Phone: (612) 378-1224 Fax: (612) 378-1445
Yeah when he called me and told me that today I said to him what did I ****ing say to you not to do you retard
so what needs to happen is the motors need to be in a known location, so when you install the needles they will be in the right places. So I would probably get a full tank of gas, make sure the water is up to NORMAL temp, use a scan tool to get speed and rpm and go from there. Russ
most dealships are going to charge you $100+ per hour for stupid things like that. I told you how to do it, go do it. If it take you more than 20 minutes you probably should stay away from cars. Russ
Russ is correct. Install the tach (@ zero) and the speedo(@zero) needles with the gauge cluster powered up(engine not running). Fill the tank full of gas, install fuel gauge needle(@full). With the with the car warm ball park the temp needle in its normal location. Or go to D&d Speedometer and have them do it on a bench test. They may even do it the way Russ and I have just explained.
or tell him to take the car to the dealer.. have them put in a request for a new cluster assembly with everything intact.. they will have to change it out and send the old one in for exchange and in doing so you will get a new one with the same mileage programmed and set etc etc.. for I would say somewhere around the $600+ rnge maybe.. ha ha retards and their money are soon parted
Or you could tell him to just eat ****s and stop holding his hand all the time. This is the same clown that gave you the WRX wing to sell that is still sitting in my office? And the same bonehead that speeds past my house revving his motor with the low boost/wastegate issue? If so, I'd tell him to pound sand and figure it out himself.
