Last night I had my stage two install done and also did a GM BCS. The pigtails were hooked up in reverse so the pos and neg were switched around. My question is if you hook it up wrong will it blow a fuse or something? Anybody had this issue? I went for my tune today and the GM BCS is not doing anything, Bullwinkle and I checked the BCS and it works on his car. So the BCS isnt toast but when its hooked up it doen't seem to have any power, as it doesn't click like it should.

Any help would be much appreciated,

    Thanks

    Jacob

take a meter and test your harness wires.

i've installed it the other way before and it worked LOL, weird but it worked.

it doesn't matter which way it's wired up. The solenoid will polarize either way.

Hrm, you've tested this on the GMBCS specifically? I'm not a wiring guru, but I do know the solenoid has markings for specific polarity.

Anyway, I was about out of ideas on Jake's car. The BCS works fine on my car, but just simply doesn't do anything on his car.

Yeah, try a voltmeter to see if anything is getting through those wires.

I do know that the first few gmbcs i've 'wired' up, were put on the other way, and they did work just fine. I never knew why. But what Ron said seems right, so, I guess it'll be fine.

There was an 05 wrx that did that to me. When logged, zero wastegate duty, I thought it was the solenoid, swapped with mine, and same thing.
Though I never got to test it with the meter (his car locked up the next day and hit a tree :(, but he's ok, last I heard from him)
Thought one log, it did get like 20% for a few hundred rpm.
So it could be the harness....

Injectors are the same way. Polarity doesn't matter.

Well, that's not exactly what Jake's car is doing. The logs do show WG duty, so the ECU works just fine, the actual BCS just doesn't do anything.

I just tested it with a meter and the harness apears to be the culprit here. Tested the wires coming from my car and it reads 11.4 volts. I just need a new harness then right, anybody know the part # of hand.

yes, it's a generic pigtail, used for many other parts

    Hm
Does he hit boost, and how much?
If so, did you try putting back the stocker, and seeing if everything is normal (boosting fine and stuff)?

WG boost, the BCS just didn't energize at all (so didn't put any pressure on the WG actuator arm). He didn't have his stocker.

Its just a bad harness, I'm gonna get a new one and it should work fine.

sorry for the delay...I just seen your pm. glad you got it figured out. I've never paid attention to the wiring on the gmbcs as i as well didn't think the polarity mattered.

I just looked at mine and it's hooked up the same way yours is...and mine has worked this way for over a year.

Yeah, guess I always just assumed the unit had polarity as it had the markings for such. Oh wells, let's hope it's really just the harness.
