Alright I need your help, I am planning a vacation to Japan in Feburary 2008 and I'll be in Kyoto and Osaka, Japan for a week at least. My dream is to drive on at least one of their spagetti circuit tracks drift/grip which ever is available in the area. Unfortunately my inlaws are not motorheads and so thats out of the question. I'm gonna have to get on some forums or references really quick if I'm going to make this a reality. So if anyone has been there or know of any reliable resources I'd really appreciate it. I promise I'll take lots of pictures of our famous Subaru's while in Japan! I've never been there, and another obsticle will be getting someone to let me drive their ride around the track, well their very nice people over there so I'll use my charm, maybe I'll get lucky.
Mr. C That sounds awesome. You are going to the motherland! Bring back some parts if you can ... I can't help you b/c I never been there but when I went to thailand in May of 07, I was lucky enough to find a gc8 ver 6 with cwest stuff... And the guy was cool enough to let me drive it. It was pretty scary but it fulfilled my dreams of driving a gc8 RHD impreza.
You lucky dog, you! There is some serious motorsports activity in Thailand too. I dont know about bringing back parts, but I'll definately work very hard on bring back something you'll drool over. LOL
wow! chong! better get to test the Subaru Impreza WRX STi Spec C type RA-R! hahah well take some videos too! and have fun man! i wish it was as cheap as going salmon fishing....lol so i can go too!
Well may I'll get lucky and get lost from my group and get stuck a track with some motorhead junkies and do some serious Time Attacks and Touge in the mountains. I cant promise anything, but I'll make notes of your requests. The worst thing that could happen is my picture ends up on the back of a milk carton. MIA All the while I'm on the next Options Video blasking thru Tokyo! LOL
I would post this up on some of the larger boards. I know some people on RS25.com are living in japan and could probably be of help in this situation. Old_Duwel on RS25 does alot of gymkhana and has a really awesome V4
This is all I found on track day experiences in Japan. Google will probably yield more with better search criteria: http://www.metropolis.co.jp/tokyo/481/cars_bikes.asp Looks like the big two: Fuji and Tsukuba. I didn't get a chance to hit the track in Japan when I was there 9 years ago but I have done track days over in England on several occasions. It isn't cheap but I thought the $400 I paid for about 3 hours of being at the track (at least half of that on the track) was pretty decent considering the supercars I got to drive.
Sweet, sounds like fun. I'm going this spring too, but looks like our trips won't overlap, otherwise I'm going to be in the same general area. As far as driving, I think you can get an International Divers Permit through AAA, last time I was there I knew some people using that to drive there. I don't know how you can get on a track though, I don't know anyone who could help with that.
One of our oldschool members from here (Beej) has been living in Japan for a couple of years now. Last I heard he had a bugeye Prodrive Sti. He's a huge track rat.
Yeah, he's had a number of different subies (GF STi wagon, anyone? yum.) and a few Evos since he moved there. I know that at one point he was working for a company that would buy cars, chop 'em up and ship over the parts here for $$$$$$$$$$$.
