^ yeah they are wierd about that. the 80 and the 60gb units are backward compatible. I think the 40gb will play ps1 games though. if you go to the ps3 website they have a compatibility tester.
Sorry, my computer died and I've been super busy. I might have some time to try this one, I work continuously until the ice race. So we'll see how much time I got. OCB, way to go on beating me... you little bastard
you dont have a memory card? uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, are you sure you need to have one? its in city courses......
pull your card out and restart the game. That will tell you what's available to choose. It's not in city courses.
yeah, the stock order came in late friday, but they should have been on it, i'll know for sure monday
Yeah after all that sh*t talking I had to do something LOL! Sorry bout the track I also realized that you can't drive the right car. Car is virtually the same minus some power, wing and flaps  Track - Citta di Aria New car - Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 85'
^ I was so on the edge the entire lap, I could never repeat it and thats for sure! It was alot of controlled drifting, I also used the SS compound tires. In fact I never even played with the tires this time or the gearing, I did maybe 7-8 laps and got that time. My other SD card is at home right now but I will post my fast lap before the deadline Friday.
I had a lap that could have competed but I screwed up the last corner, I was pretty pissed. We should bring the ps2's up to the ice races and have a contest while we're up there. So should I bring my ps2 and my xbox or both?
but there is no way of knowing, so lets make it part of the rules that you CAN play with the gearing, if you are good at setting it up its to your advantage
How is it breaking the rules? there is no power advantage and there is no real science, you drive the car down the back stretch and set the gearing up so that just before you start to break your car almost touches the rev limiter in top gear. We all know this (well at least I hope you do) and it is a tool we should be able to use if its there.
I wouldnt call it "totally stock" if you played around with the gearing. I think that it should be based on an even playing ground (car) so that everyone is competing with the same thing, with the exception of a few prefernces (ASM/TCS/Tires). Running a stock WRX with the standard 3.90 FD will not perform the same as a WRX which has a 4.44 FD. giving a "stock" car shorter gearing can have a huge result on the results of the race. For instance if you are using a fairly high HP car (ie. Aston Martin DB9) on a track which doesnt have the longest straight aways (ie. Seattle) reducing the length of the gears will allow for better usage of the cars potential power (and also better use of the power band) which can give an unfair advantage, shaving ALOT of time off a lap. I have played with this setup before in simulation mode and just by fine tuning the gearing I was able to drop 5 seconds off my best lap time. IMO this contest is to gauge who is the best GT4 driver not who can tweak their gearing the best. I vote we stick to the original rules. 3rik you are right that the game doesnt display if the gearing has been altered or not, however I do feel that we can trust people on this board to not cheat. Otherwise all you would be doing is cheating themselves. "oh look i won, but i had to change X,Y, and Z to do it" I am going to start a "open" class GT4 thread: http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21551
hey anyone into a duluth gt4 meet? I have 2 dfp wheels and a big tv. we can see who's got the skills to keep up with me on the ring (less than 8:15). But seriously its like a subaru track meet for no money. Just a thought.
I have can honestly say I have never one a stage with the gearing mod. I will post pics of my lap time tonight and pick a new stage.
