Will that one be as bad as the one that hit the north suburbs last weekend? That nasty 3" hail hit my folks' house while they were up in da UP and took out windows on the house, dented up my brother and sisters' cars, and destroyed the shingles that were just put on a few weeks ago. I've witnessed hail that big down here in TX and it is no joke.
It's a scary and exciting phenomenon - we just missed that storm coming back from Embarrass MN. Drove through Hugo at about 5:45 and I heard that the storm just blew through there at 5:00 - we just got the tail end of a little wind, heavy rains and small hail.
There's another stomr moving in from the northwest with large hail expected right now. Looks like it may hit the entire cities as it's moving southeast. I'm wtaching it roll into downtown minneapolis right now
Just got some hail in south Minneapolis, nothing too big fortunately...I'm waiting for it to let up before I go inspect my car.
We got some golf-ball sized stuff hitting randomly before we got any rain. Most of it was grape-sized or smaller though. My garage is too messed up to fit a car in, but I threw a pop-up canopy over our "nice" car. Might get some dings on the hood and trunk, but the really spendy panels are safe. Got some good video of it from the deck door.
yea i was just driving home on 169 and all of the sudden it started to hail so i went screaming down some back roads going at least 70mph trying to find anything i could to protect my car. then i came up to plymouth where i live and there was a little bit smaller than golfball sized hail that cracked my mom's subies windshield . other than that the stuff i saw in hopkins was marble sized. just big enough to really piss me off.
tornado and large hail heading straight for me up in lino lakes garage is full and car out in the open, ahhhhh
I was up in new hope for an ultimate frisbee game when it hit - nickel to quarter sized. my hood is toast, my roof is equally bad. probably call insurance tomorrow - i think i will need to buy a new hood, it is really torn up
That sucks. We got nailed in SLP. Our sitter had just arrived and we were heading out when the sirens sounded. Our cars are safe...our sitter's well, got viciously butthurt.
that's lame... you should almost consider leaving it like that until summer is over before you fix it, if you do. sounds like 3 more days in the upcoming week with severe weather chances.
yea it sucks but oh well, that's life. I beat the crap out of my car on a regular basis so the appearance is not a priority but the hood is so dinged up I think I might replace it lol
haha, i hear ya. you should turn that beast into a storm chasing vehicle... rally tires and all. you already have the lights, and the camera skills. did the scoop get all messed up too? or just the hood? although I love a clean car, inside and out, I respect the fact that you actually do stuff to yours and use it like it is meant to be used. you probably enjoy it more. If mine was paid off, I might just do the same. :yumyum:
My RS got smacked pretty good, when I called State Farm they said they'd already gotten a number of calls. Oh well, I have a great PDR guy, looks like he'll be getting a call from me this week.
man i was at work in edina when this happened. The car got stuck outside :mercy: i cant see much rite now but when the sun is out tomorrow i'm hoping for the best. This storm was a whopper, the whole change of weather was pretty cool though, no wind and then bam trees are bending, leaves and crap are flying everywhere.
I was lucky. It hailed at 35e & Cliff but not at 77(cedar) & 42. For all who got some damage, check out http://www.dentkraftpdr.com/. Ask for Don. These guys are awesome. Fixed up my WRX last year after it got pegged. Can't tell it was ever damaged. They even got a couple door dings that they didn't like.
I'd like to see pics of the cars that were hit. I know of one guy on the forum. I'll wait for him to chime in if he wants to. Eden Prairie FTW!! No hail, no wind and hardly any rain. Mostly sunny!
I was at beer festival in uptown when it started coming down. Thx god I work for finnegan's and i had an all access pass. I jumped behind the counter under the tarps. It was pretty damn bad. I hope that it messed up my roof on my house... I need it replaced anyways
Stillwater got pelted pretty bad. Reminded me of tropical storms while I was living in New Orleans. I was going to park my car under an empty bank building's drivethrough but a Vette pulled in and took my spot. Doesn't look like there's an dents, maybe a tiny paint chip. I'm sure I'll find something next time I detail it.
Apparently my Legacy got torn up pretty bad. The nice cars were in the garage but the Legacy is my 'beater' and it lived up to its title. My sister tells me that there are 1-200 dents in the hood/roof/trunk. This is why I keep full coverage on my 14 year old car. I have always liked the color Estoril Blue...
state farm can't look at my car for 1-2 weeks. I'm wondering if the roof can be PDR'd - a lot of the big dents are creased and the shear volume of small dents is astounding.
I was there too. Luckily we made a dash for Calhoun Square the first time. The second shot of rain we took cover under the Smirnoff tent, they kept filling my glass and I'm not a fan. My car has chipped paint spots all over but it didn't appear to get dented. I was more worried about hail on my head at that point.
so this is a pretty good time for me to add a spec c vent in my roof i guess lol. also a seibon wrc style cf hood (color matched of course).
well I'm going into one of state farm's claim centers tomorrow afternoon - I guess it's at morries hyundai?!
